Are offering fans their season ticket money back Minus money for games already played up to next Friday, if they object to the change of name from City to Tigers next season.

http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football ... ame-change

So if Pools changed their name to say Hartlepool Monkeys and offered fans their season ticket money back, who would take it ?

Basically what they are saying is we are changing the name so bugger you supporters who dont like it and as a token gesture for Americanising our club and selling its history here is your money back and fuck off.

The actual chairman's post backs that up to a T Compo he is quoted in the article as saying

“Fans can choose to vote with their feet. If they are not happy, they can stay away.

It's his club so he can do what he likes - shocking disregard for his customers though. Obviously has no concept of what a football club means to its supporters in this country.

Allam probably thinks it's like running Man United or Arsenal, rub a few fans up the wrong way and there's a conveyor belt more waiting to snap up the season tickets.

Only this is Hull, not Man United or Arsenal. Been living and working here for a good while now and the lads I've spoken to are dead against this, I'd say a lot of them would definitely stay away, especially in light of Allam's outrageous statements.

They struggled to sell out at home against Sunderland the other week and it's only when Man U or Chelsea etc come rocking up that they sell out in advance. Think this bloke needs to remember this is predominately a rugby city and the locals are not the type to take change lightly.

Still it's all a good laugh when you're a neutral.

I hate people saying "its his club he can do what he likes", granted yes it is but having a football club isnt like buying a company or a car is it. Its something thats been around for years and is ingrained in people and communities with history of the town and ages (sort of like an old listed house and you cant do what you like with those).

I dont know how I would feel about Pools having someone like this or that mad fool at Cardiff, selling your sole for a thimble full of short lived success, I guess you would have to ask Man utd fans. I can only dream of a Jack Walker or Dave Whealen type to come into Pools and keep the history integrity of the club as well as having limited success, but again these where fans first and owners second.

I would rather walk away from my club than watch its sole taken apart bit by bit.

My point was that legally speaking it his is club and he has the power to make this type of decision even if is totally ill-advised and inconsiderate. I don't blame the Hull fans for being pissed off...

considering the team that finishes bottom of the premier league this year nets £60million, the same amount man city got for winning it in 2012, i doubt hull city or any premier league team even need the fans anymore.

Him n the likes of Tan at cardiff dont seem that boshed.

To be honest though, it's all cosmetic innit?? I mean if someone bought Pools and invested the cash to make us more successful long term, they could call the club 'lovely lovely person' United for me, but we'd all still call them Pools, right??

It's just like that daft thing about St James's Park last year (?) Do you want the money or the tradition, and there lies the issue?

The Cardiff situation was worse IMO

The Cardiff situation was much more cynical. People had merchandise that they'd accumulated over the years and suddenly the new stuff bears no relationship to what the club's heritage was all about. That was the plan when Tan came in there.

The Allam's have owned Hull City for a couple of years now so I dunno what's in their heads.

Cant say id be too fussed if we changed name or colours etc especially if the owner had brought us relative success.

I know a few Hull fans up in arms but they still go and I reckon there will be less than 10 who take the chairman up on his offer (and that will more than likely be people who are skint rather than in protest)

Well seeing as the new name will be Hull Tigers, you'd assume that they'll still be in yellow and black at home unless there's a tiger that someone has found that's say, green and white.

I'd be annoyed if Pools had a colour change but I'd have to go with it. I mean, how many away strips have we had in the last ten years, but the home has always been blue and white.

If I was Cardiff, that'd be the thing that annoyed me most, and I think they changed the badge as well??

Well fuck me who would have believed Hull would have stooped to calling the club the Tigers.

I mean just imagine if people called Hartlepool something daft like Pools.

The Business might be his, but the Football club most definitely isnt.

The business men owning clubs these days are pretty dim, if they think otherwise.

they already tried to do that with an extra round of games I think? But it was knocked back for some reason

I want to support a club that represents its own community.. i.e. a football club. Many entities that used to be football clubs are now simply corporations. They could be located anywhere, so it's the next natural progression. Hopefully it will make the dummies in this country who currently follow these corporations, finally realise that they have been dummies all along... and start to become proper footy fans following their local team

Some hope though eh?

I thought the Vic was re named Victoria Park in about 1994 when the Cyril Knowles stand was built..?

Wasn't it re named to signify a fresh start after Gary Gibson? Mad John is bound to know - it might have even been his idea.....

Funnily enough I was at the Hull vs Crystal Palace game today.. I know I know I should have been at Pools, karma caught up with me though as I witnessed the worst game of football i've ever seen in my life..

Anyway at the 20th minute, a few supporters brought out a banner saying "We are Hull City".. a few Hull fans started walking round with it, but within minutes about 5-10 stewards waded in and tried to make them take it down... All hell broke lose and it looked like a mass brawl between fans and stewards... So looks like Allam (New Owner) had passed the word down to take action against anything like this.

The Allams are Indian, and they've been running a boatyard in Hull for the last 25 or so years. Mind, they went bust once in the nineties but bought the assets off the Receiver, and carried on.

The amount of times you've 'heard' that exceeds your IQ by six, you pointless peasant.

I mean who actually talks to you?? When you went on your charity walk, your Mam moved house and didn't tell you, so I've 'heard.'
