I watched England v New Zealand on saturday in the rugger.

How can 80,000 rugger fans shut up and respect the national anthem of the other team, but football fans cant?

Obviously football attracts a rather large retard element.

went to cardiff few years ago '11 and the welsh booed their own national anthem (British Anthem) so much you almost couldn't hear yourself. So obviously we responded, not that it made much difference. But I do agree, I'd rather out sing the opposition when it comes to the national anthems than out boo them. And what pisses me off, is how loud the boos are, and yet how quiet wembley is when we sing the national anthem. How does that work? One of the reasons I'd never go to an England match at home anymore, atmosphere is awful, full of tourists and the middle class.

So it's tourists and the middle class who boo national anthems ?????

The awful atmosphere has nothing to do with the booing that goes on. You come to expect that when it comes to football. The atmospheres shit because there's thousands of tourists, paying black market prices for tickets, sitting their filming the fucking thing on their phones and IPads. And then there's the middle classes, who sit there in their half and half scarves, make no noise, merely observe the national anthem and who don't have a passionate bone in their body, seems as though they couldn't care less if we win or lose. I could go on forever, but there's no point, it'll never be how it was. If you've been/go you'd understand. Those young'uns in the town end make a better atmosphere than 80,000... I don't even know what to call them... Whatever they are. Fuck this. I hate Wednesdays. Someone get me a special brew.

And those of that care about health and safety would argue that they did us a favour.

The MillHouse stand could do with bombing now.

I have never been to a full international game of football, nor have I been to the new Wembley. I went to the old Wembley twice, once for a F A Cup final and once for a Rugby League Cup Final. Both times I was offered the ticket.
I would go if Pools got there, obviously.

Does crikket do nash anthems? I've never been to the opening day of a test match.

Anyway, can some major sport's English governing body PLEASE take the lead and offer us an ENGLISH anthem.
If the Scots can sing a silly song written by a second rate folk group and the Welsh can sing their own (admittedly superb) anthem, why does it fall on us not only to save the friggin queen but to do so with the dreariest song in the world?

Yes it's an old chestnut, but I don't see any reason for it stopping being an issue.

Have A Cuppa Tea by The Kinks would work well as an English anthem-

This suggests it's not political though. I think it's just the associations/unions/federations being cowardly.
http://www.channel4.com/news/should-jer ... nal-anthem

Not saying those particular songs should be the anthem like, although Jerusalem is an absolute cracking tune (by Hubert Parry, arranged by Mr Elgar himself) and could easily be adapted (sorry Mr Blake). We could even give her queenship a minor mensh if that's a sticking point.
We could give the opposition a full two verses just to put their anthems to shame.

they could use the entire Tales from Topographic Oceans. (not the best work from Yes by any means) but it will definitely subdue the opposition, especially when they are on their 4th spliff

We'd absolutely spank Jamaica, Holland, Spain, Morrocco, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

Drop some Peruvian gold dust in their water against Brazil, Chile, Uruguay and they'd all be stood on the halfway line talking about shoes.

Get Germany and Belgium pissed in the dressing room while 're-hydrating' and we've won it.
