Been thinking this for weeks now. I went to the game today and although nothing seemed to go right, i really believed that 10 of the starting 11 really did their best and too many just had an off day. Even Tinkler, who looked miles off the pace, still put 100% in for 90 minutes. Not his fault that he is no longer the player he once was.
Now i'd like to briefly go back to the end of last season. As soon as our relegation was confirmed, one player, who was in todays starting XI, decided that he was too good for this club and put in a transfer request... and NOBODY was interested in signing him. Based on his performances since Barron's injury i don't think it's hard to say why. HE DOESN'T CARE. The amount of times that he didn't bother to track runners (the 1st goal for example) had no idea what was going on around him and simply pumped balls up the right hand side and then just waved at Barker when it went nowhere near hime. Now if this is due to the fact that he was having a bad game then i would happily give him the benefit of the doubt, but it isn't. When you can see 9 outfield players running as fast and as hard as they can, and one player barely breaking sweat, it REALLY annoys me. A lot of people paid a lot of money for a ticket, travelling expenses etc to get to the game, the least i expect is a bit of effort.

This man did not want to play for our club for the simple reason that he thought he was too good. Well he isn't even good enough for this level and he puts absolutely NO effort in for the team. It's no coincidence that we have started to perform poorly since Barron was injured.

Proud to be a Poolie

I don't agree ar all. I thought he had quite a good game. Their first goal came when Nelse was up in the wrong half of the pitch leaving Tinks at the back against their in-form front two.

Don't agree either - when he and effo were having words in the first half there was effort there to be seen

Darren Williams is a true pro. He wanted to leave due to personal reasons and when he's played for the ressies he's done so with a smile on his face and show 1005 commitment.

I agree with that Smythe. He is inspirational on the pitch and an excellent captain marshalling players and motivating. It's no coincidence in my opinion that the clubs form has dipped since he has been out or that it started to improve when he won his place back earlier in the season. If he is fit on Saturday I'd play him. I've nothing against Darren Williams by the way, but feel that MB's leadership skills warrent his inclusion, if fit.
How bad was Nelson's injury & is he definately out next week?

My biggest disappointment is Willie Boland. I struggle to think of one good game he has had for us.

I'd agree we do miss Barron' leadership qualities but imo you're way off the mark norton. Daz was first to come out and applaud the crowd at the start and first to come over to the crowd and stayed the longest at the end, so to say he has no feelings for the club is well wide of the mark.
He is a true pro and always gives 100%, even though sometimes passes go astray and bad decisions are made, but hey, how many times has Barron made the wrong pass or bad tackle and after all that's why he's at Pools.
If Daz can't get a move to a Championship club in the summer then I for one wouldn't be disappointed to see him fighting it out for right back next term. Lets face it, Barron won't make a full season

Darren Williams was solid as a rock at Wycombe and played a big part in the game that secured us promotion.

I wouldn't say everyone gave their all on Saturday. When they ran out to the sight of 3000 Poolies dancing around they should have been well up for it. Instead we were chasing the game from a minute onwards.

Brown is a class player but needs to realise when to release the ball. Monkhouse was terrible, Boland the same.

Any ideas why Sweeney didn't start?

Barker was off the pace all game and I was surprised Wilson took Williams off. I think Porter has to start Saturday

I personally thought Tinkler had a mare

They just didn't seem as up for it as the fans
