I was talking to neil Warnock the other day.he was in the team the first time I ever saw pools.between us we managed to name the whole team that day.we both agreed that willie waddell was the best player by a mile

'Pools Team?

1 Ron Hillyard
2 George Potter
3 Alan Goad
4 Len Ashurst
5 Bill Green
6 Malcolm Dawes
7 Willie Waddell
8 Bobby Smith
9 Bobby Veart
10 Ron Young
11 Neil Warnock

Copied from Poolstats.

Remember 10 of them well, but a complete mental block on Ron Hillyard. sctatchinghead

A lad I met when in the RAF said he played in that game for Scarborough, but I've never been able to find out their team to confirm it, I was there to watch it though!

wow.my memory team is nowhere near what the actual team was.
anyway Warnock reckoned that he was in a b+b behind the staincliffe and while he was trainng one day his missus saw a huge rat. and that was the reason he moved on
