Gordon Strachan. Not very tall but trained hard on a diet of porridge and bananas. Lasted a very long time thanks to getting his oats every morning of life..

Didn't remember him as particularly small but just googled it and 5 7" is way smaller than most modern defenders. Bet he added an inch like most footballers do and was actually 5 6".
