Yloop......

"Are supporters only good if they sing"

Why ask that question?? Nobody had claimed that.i said in reference to the noise out support isn't that good and it isn't. Maybe 20 people and that's being generous sing. We have 3500 fans on the ground. That's less than 1% who sing do you honestly think that's good??? Getting behind the team vocally IMO helps but for some reason we don't do it. Away games are the complete opposite

Does booing your own players help?

You can't really get on your high horse when you admit to mooing like a cow at people who are on the team you are supporting.

I'm not on a high horse at all. Howard's comments about the club and actually admitting to not trying (in a season were we are relegated) deserve booing. I don't want the man anywhere near the pitch or even at the club and I won't pretend otherwise. In a game that lasts 90 minutes a 2 second boo of Howard is hardly the end of the world

It's not just him though.

We have a young team with fragile confidence booing anyone is just dumb. For about the last three years ever substitution the manager has made has seemingly been greeted by boos from grown men it's juvenile and moronic.

Collins did a job when he came on by winning headers against Odejayi.

It not that many seasons ago that another centre half (Nelson) was constantly given MOTM marks/awards on here for simply winning headers when teams resorted to the long ball down the middle.

Collins isn't quick anymore but the thing you can say is if we're under pressure by a team just hoofing it into the middle to try to get an equalizer he isn't a bad option to put his head on it and clear it. Now on deck against a nippy little f*****, you don't want him.

So maybe judge the man on what he does on the day/game and not for anything previously done. and that should apply to all players. Howard was out of order for what he said, I believe he owes the club/fans an apology, do I boo him on/off ...no.

Referring to a comment made earlier regarding daves pace up front(Rodney). I've yet to see any evidence of this so far in the minutes he's been on the pitch. Maybe he's only fast when driving his flash Merc?

A couple of times yesterday he chased lost causes and put the defender under pressure purely because of his pace, he's like shit off a stick.

Rodney seems to me like he's trying too hard to impress and his touch lets him down. He needs to relax on the ball and I'm sure he can be a good player for us.

football is a simple game at times if it's played effectively!!!! Maybe someone needs to tell him he doesn't have to score overhead kicks every week!!!!

regardless of whether you rate Rodney or not, the most worrying thing for me is that Pools cant find a place in the team for James Poole, who is a far better footballer than 99% of the squad.

Could whoever tells Rodney that add that it is OK if he does though? A striker who could get us more than thirty goals this season would be very welcome even if he did insist on getting them with spectacular overhead kicks.

What's worrying me is that we couldn't afford to sign a player and lost him to a non league outfit..

Despite the 'here we go again' thread title (definitely a game of two halves but disgraceful is a bit strong for the second 45) this thread is spot on as regards the game.

My tuppence worth -

Colin Cooper either doesn't read fans forums or takes them with a pinch of salt - when he sent Collins and Howard on as a double substitution I was anticipating collective apoplexy on the Bunker if the game had finished 2-2 or, gawd help us, 2-3.

The last 25 minutes was hard to watch (bit like the England game) but it was job done in terms of the result and the substitutions. Second half, Luke James wasn't making an impression and Baldwin was starting to get bossed in the air by Odijaye.

Got to feel sorry for James Poole though, not getting on after scoring against Wycombe. He must wonder if it's going to be like last season for him all over again.

And a question. Did Steve Howard really admit to not trying for Pools? When he was on loan at Sheff Wed, I remember reading crap like how he thought he'd come back to Hartlepool 'too soon,' but admitting to not trying would be a shocking confession for a professional footballer to make and not calculated to help him to find a new club. So is it an actual quote?

No he didn't.

I think he intimated to someone who was abusing him on Twitter that he tried harder for Sheffield Wednesday.

I don't know why Poole is getting all of this sympathy. He was terrible when he came on against Wycombe and his good performances are far too infrequent. He has ability but that's not always enough. If he is going to be a regular starter until he does more, more consistently when he plays.

Cheers for posting that. Looks to me like typical Twitter bollox. Pools' fan on the wind up, Howard being a smart arse back. Daft for anyone to take it too seriously. What's he supposed to apologise for, being a clever dick?

Nearly choked when I re read that bit about plenty of offers.

The poor bloke must be gutted, thought he was above League 1 and now bench warming for a team towards bottom of league 2. Arsehole.

there's lads at Pools busting a gut to try to impress and waiting for a chance, and they have to watch him and his antics, sitting on grands per week salary while they get YTS money..... and his non-training regime.... what type of example is that though really?

I booed Howard onto the pitch

I backed the team for 90minutes, no booing of my own players.

I don't agree with Howard playing but booing him is pointless n idiotic.

Can we have the bit where the fan said 'you didn't do much running at Pools?'

Because that looks to me like the fact that you took 'I need my bessie mate for golf and social,' to mean Barron and Howard were permanently out on the piss when in fact it was never proved, seen or reported.

I am not defending Howard here I just want to know. If its true then why the hell isnt he training?

They both look like sarcastic comments to me; looks like everyone's reading too much into this.

Cooper has inherited an extremely difficult situation all round, and if he can demonstrate he can manage the club through this season until league status is assured then I would like to think the bloke will get an undiluted say on the retained list and the backing to bring in his preferred signings within the FFP structure... and zero interference from the executive mafia at Pools

IMO opinion he's already one of the worst signings we've ever made, for the sheer waste of money n lack of return alone.

Nice one russ.

Have we managed a goal this season with him even on the pitch? Possible only the forest game? Would live to see minutes per goal with him in and out of the side this season.
