Anyone see Arcade Fire on tv on Friday evening covering the Clash song Guns of Brixton. I thought it was good - they came across well especially as I like the presenter, Lauren Lavern.
Any band that uses a Hurdy Gurdy when playing live is good in my books.

I think Arcade Fire are much better live, although they have about a dozen people on stage - maybe they're turning into Polyphonic Spree. I like some of the Shins stuff - but not all much prefer Clap your hands say Yeah.

I got interested in Polyphonic Spree after I saw them at Leeds Festival. I went and saw them again at the Leadmill in Sheffield and cramming 32 people on their small stage was a hoot. They had the singers stacked up on crates at the back. I think the harp took half of the space up. Cracking version of Bowie's 'Five Years' though.

A couple of tracks have a Talking Heads type sound - I think your brother likes them, or at least did.

I'm a great admirer of Steve Hillage as a guitarist and the Hurdy Gurdy as an instrument. Plant and Page had a Hurdy Gurdy player on their stuff & also live adding another dimension to the Led Zeppelin numbers especially Gallows Pole.
As for Gong - they were a dimension apart, all quite mad but talented musicians.
