He was nothing special when with us though, he had that mad little spell where he scored a few mind.

He scored in four games IIRC. Too bad he couldn't extend those 8-in-4 to a full season.
Although to be fair we still pissed promotion.

Not being funny but the 200k+ we got for him after that purple patch was the luckiest bit of business we've ever done. Jon was decent enough but never worth that!

Dundee United paid what they thought was the going rate for a team in their position. I doubt they'll be complaining about the value they got from him.

My mate is a Dundee United fan, and he, and from what he says, the whole crowd there, think Jon Daly is God.

Yeah, but don't let reality get in the way of the Board sage's attempt at withering sarcasm.

Everyone knows (except Yubep) that we paid 30K for Barker and he repaid it in spades. clappp

I don't want to cause chew but I think that is in reference to penalties which were suggested by Barkers detractors on here at the time not to count in his goals tally Mr GeoffN.

We paid a damn site more than £30,000 for Barker as well!

we received 80k for Daly and paid 90k for Barker if memory serves me right. It was 100% the right decision because, barring one amazing week and a stunning header in the playoff final, he came across as slow, lazy and uninterested.

MANSFIELD Town have been ordered by a court to pay £8,000 to a licensed football agency.
The Field Mill club was told to stump up the cash to the World in Motion organisation after a judge declared that it had defaulted on two agreements in August 2006 and January 2007.

http://www.chad.co.uk/stags/Judge-order ... 4205258.jp

At Derby County Court on Thursday, the hearing was told that the Blue Square Premier Club had failed to pay £4,000 to the agency during a deal to extend the contract of former fans' favourite Richie Barker in August 2006.

The club also failed to cough up an £8,000 fee to World in Motion for its role in a transfer of prolific striker, Barker, to Hartlepool for £100,000 during the January 2007 transfer window.

Damn site more than 30k that like.

utter horseshit, with the greatest of respect. slow perhaps, lazy ? nope. uninterested ? fuck off.

the fact that he's made a great career in a league on a par with the championship and is basically loved by Dundee united fans suggest that he was massively underappreciated here.

I agree he wasn't those things but the SPL isn't even in the same light year as the Championship.

The standard of club ranges from Celtic to League Two level.

Ross County, Inverness and the like are smaller clubs with far less resources than Pools.

I respectfully disagree. He was shite (for us). The fans of his previous club were happy that we'd actually paid a fee for him.

JD was a big, slow Irish version of Jermaine Easter.
At Stockport he just wasn't the right player in the right place at the right time.
At Pools he was just starting to get it together but we didn't have the time to wait, so we bought a goal dispenser instead.
Everybody was happy with the deal. Mansfield got the dosh, we got the promotion goals, and Dundee U got a captain.
