Just watched colin cooper interview and a segment of footage showed a black player training. Any ideas?
Seen on twitter (jack compton had retweeted) that nialle rodney started pre season today could it be him?

No harm in looking at these lads and giving them a run out in Holland. If it is him then at least we know Cooper will have seen him play.

Thats common sense Chip. Not the Pools way. The Pools way is whoever we sign is shit before he wore the shirt in any sort of game including friendlies

True, but the terrace visionaries decided he just wasn't good enough, most of whom are to spotting footballing talent what Stephen Hawkins is to Sumo wrestling.

Yes but he wasn't any good then though was he? He did next to nothing over 3 seasons, how long do you keep giving players with potential to come good.

I like Jermaine Easter and always look out for old players but I think that 76 goals in 323 matches is hardly setting the world alight.

I am happy that we are getting some young lads in and all for giving them a go.

It's a 1 in 4 average that compo n a big chunk of that has been spent in the championship too.

I'd of loved a 1 in 4 striker last year

Well it's obvious somebody did and he did come good....and while we're at it, it doesn't help when your constantly having your confidence shot ragged by thickets....and did Easter get some stick.

'some stick'.......that's putting it mildly,....... and as a matter of interest, the grief and shite argument has a teeny little drawback, it started from day one virtually.
Just a thought, have you ever known a players confidence improve by the sad practice of giving them 'grief'.......?

I don't know if my memory is playing tricks here, but didn't he come on as a substitute in a game and then get substituted as he was having a mare?

Brighton at home, not sure he was subbed again but he was dreadful.

I don't think he didn't flourish here because of a few thickets abusing him. He never really established himself as a first team player because we had a good side and his opportunities were limited. If he was coming through now he'd get a run in the side then he had people like Eifoin, Gordon Watson Boydy higher in the pecking order. He had to drop to a couple of lesser sides to establish himself as a decent league player. This 'abuse' thing is greatly exaggerated.

Not sure if he got the subbed sub treatment but I do remember it was in his last game for Pools, following which Cooper gave up on him then shipped him off to Cambridge after first giving him the famous Neale Cooper public ribbing.
Easter never started a competitive first team match for us like, so it's not as though he was allowed time to bed in.

The same idiots still go, still spout shite and still target players. Young Charlie Wyke started to get it towards the back end of his loan spell last year. It's moronic, counter productive nonsense but you'll never change them they've paid their money and are entitled to an opinion ect...

They didn't force Jermaine Easter out of Pools though, he had some decent players competing in his position and the manager didn't rate him. He's done alright after getting the games he needed elsewhere to establish himself as a league footballer, in those few years when we were flying he wasn't going to get that game time here.

The point I'm trying to get over is, you don't know how each individual reacts to often cruel abuse, you don't even need lots of it, while one player may brush it offf, another loses confidence and performs accordingly. It's never straightforward.
As for the abuse he received near me, it was nasty and that's all I have to judge it by.

I dont buy into all this getting on players back shite. If anything it should spur you on if you have the right mind set, it would me anyway, theirs a massive goal in proving people wrong..

Look at all the opposition players over the years what we the poolies have give stick.. spurs them on and many a time walking off with whos laughing now attitude!

Just how you spur somebody on by abusing them, unless of course you're some sort of madochist, is a mystery to me .....if you have the sort of mindset that responds to this kind of treatment, you don't have a mind. As for proving your tormentors wrong, why bother, as it would only encourage the fools carry on being self righteous fools.
The idea that opposition players are put off by a motley collective of hen pecked gobshites venting their supressed spleen once a fortnight from the anonymity of a crowd is one of those myths that can't be taken seriously........... because they get it every week, they expect it, they're the opposition, it goes with the territory....but who shouldn't be expecting it is one of your own players.

If getting on your own players backs is portrayed as a positive to 'spur them on with the right mindset', it might be a good idea to adopt it for schools. From your first class in the infants and upwards, all those Saturday afternoon intellectuals who like to 'spur on' their 'victim' with incoherent rambling abuse, who have nothing to do during the week, can turn up at a school and direct a tirade from the side at any kid a bit slow off the mark.... or maybe not....

Easter was an Under 18 Wales International and playing games while on Pools books. He spent something like 3 seasons with Pools and played about 30 games. And never ever actually started a game for Pools.
