I was at Northallerton train station yesterday evening and a bunch of cyclists got of the Grand Central train wearing purple t-shirts with sponsoring Hartlepool Hospice on the back.

Obviously some sort of sponsored bike ride, anybody know who they are or anything about it?

I'm with tree (got suspicious mind) . If they're going home after finishing, why are they getting off the train two stops from Hartlepool ?? Surely if they're sponsoring Hartlepool Hospice you would expect Hartlepool people doing it. Northallerton has hospice(s) so if they getting off there would there t-shirts not have sponsoring Northallerton Hospice on them. Probably totally innocent and all above board but like I say I have suspicious mind

You lot are so suspicious. I am from the town and live away but if I was doing any sponsorship of any kind it would be for the Hartlepool hospice as two of my relatives have died there. Maybe its the case with these people, not everyone from the town lives in it and if they had no affiliation or affinity to their said towns hospice why would you sponsor them?

If you have sponsored someone, for a good cause, then why does it matter if they have actually done the event?

What difference does it make?

Ah, I see I didn't make it clear why I was asking or the circumstances of their arrival. They arrived in Northallerton on a Southbound train, can't remember if it was GC or not. I knew the cancer aid fun run for ladies was on at Seaton that day, but it isn't a cycle ride and the t shirts are usually pink, these were purple. It seemed odd that apparently someone from Northallerton area had put themselves out to help what is a (worthy) Hartlepool charity.

My family and I have unfortunately had a few family members pass through the hospice recently and as such we support that charity wherever we can, and if I got to know who had put themselves out for a charity ride I'd have given them some sponsorship, nothing more than that.

Maybe the sponsored ride was from Northallerton to Hartlepool :confusion-shrug:
