I can't help thinking that its wrong to put this guys identity out there untill or if he is found guilty. They've even printed his address. Well ok, only the street but it won't be hard to figure out the house; that'll be the one with the mob outside throwing clemmies and petrol bombs through the window.

Fair comment, Mr I.
I have no idea what the conditions are for being released on bail but I would imagine they don't allow it easily for cases of nailed on guilty.

By the way, what the fook has a photo of "Police Line do not cross" got to do with it?

Guilt has little to do with bail. To be remanded in custody plod (acab; love the way my auto correct changed that to scab!) or the courts have to be satisfied that there are substantial grounds for believing that the suspect might fail to surrender, interfere with witnesses or commit further offences. Basically, a suspect is usually only remanded in custody if s/he's got a string of previous convictions. And this is only after charge; if you're not charged, you are released with or without conditions.

Back to my criminal justice exam scripts where most of my first years get this wrong!

The Fat Man will probably be able to answer this but the quote "accused of grooming and abducting a child and two counts of sexual activity with a child".

I understand the grooming and the sexual activity (i am thinking this can range from anything eg texts) but the abduction charge I am puzzled by. If the girl traveled by her own accord this isnt abduction is it?

Not that I am justifying the creep but just seemed a bit odd.

It's not an offence I've ever looked at, but I'd hazard a guess it's a simple case that a minor cannot consent to being abducted, in the same way a child cannot lawfully consent to sexual activity.

Thanks thought that might have something to do with it.
