...and so does the Club.

Unlike some.

Let's take this point by point.

Pools Council are going to sell the ground.

What missing revenue? The S/t's have been bought and paid for (I realise those words must seem alien to anybody associated with Darlington FC, but it does still happen). If you mean missing Matchday Revenue, I'm sure the 1000 Carlisle Fans, 1000 Sheffield Wednesday Fans, 1000 Huddersfield fans (I could go on..) will more that make up for that. Plus the Cooper revolution has seen crowds increase again, another couple of results and they'll be back. Our crowd on Saturday will be nearer 5500 than 4500.

The Season Ticket price is going up next season is it? Not what I've heard...

However, I wouldn't look in this directions 'cos however many 'what if's' you come up with it doesn't change todays picture does it??

Daft posts like this sums up why WE DO NOT NEED THIS STUPID RIVALRY.

Far too many people on both sides of this ex-divide are happy with their lot as long as the other side are worse.

interesting comments from Colchester's chairman - and I agree with him about the salary aspect of those players. Let's see if they can go elsewhere and get the same money at the end of the season indeed!!! I think they';ll have to accept a lower amount - this has got to start somewhere and he must be applauded for this. I also believe that if it has anything at all to do with their team performing under par, then he needs to get them out altogether. John Ward is a good football boss and it would be better for the club all round if they could get a squad together in the true sense of the word. There will always be players who are happy with their lot and I believe they'd get far more out of them

Ken was right as well, Darlo would be in a better position now if they'd have folded completely then.

I just remembered a discussion about hignett and comments he made towards ken. Last time I looked this is a message board for discussion etc and that's the purpose I brought it up. Ok?

I haven't had a pop at hignett, as far as I can see a few agreed with him and a few agreed with ken.

I wouldn't have thought the fact that Hignett spouted off a bit on Look North a few years ago would bother Hodcroft at all- in football most loyalties are up for sale. At that point Hignett was trying to get more media work so he had to be 'good value' for the producer, he had to say something more than "erm Ken's got a good point, he knows more about business than me." He didn't sayanything offensive or outrageous and now that Hodcroft and Cooper are his bosses I'm sure Hignett will fit with their strategy and budget planning.

I did think Cooper's point about Hignett was interesting when he said that although people are aware of his media work he has actually been doing loads of scouting as well and has a wealth of knowledge about players. If Cooper is a hands on manager wants to do a lot of his own coaching, which he says he is, somebody like that is an ideal assistant. If Hignett can do the scouting of opposition and potential signings while Cooper is on the training pitch that would be a great bit of complementary staffing. In a bit of extremely wishful thinking Peter Taylor springs to mind.

Great interview IMO. It's been no secret he runs Pools as part of the business and as for those idiots on there saying it doesn't work... We've had the most successful 10 or so years we've ever had. Ken's never going to be the warm and cuddly chairman, but what he's done for us has been amazing and I wouldn't swap IOR for anyone.

Successful??? Have we won anything?? Are we in the exact same situation as when they take over??

Few playoff seasons isnt successful IMO, we've had 2 promotions but 2 relegation a fail to see how that's successful

In the context of our history if course we've had sucess. We've had as many promotions we'd had in our previous 90 years. We've been in the play offs five times having previously having never achieved that, we've played a final in front of 60,000 which were 8 minutes away from second tier football. We'd previously spent 4 seasons in our history outside of the bottom division we've just spent 8 in the last 9. I could go on.......

I can't believe that anyone can't look back on Pools time under IOR to date and think its been anything other than the most sucessful period in the 105 year history of the club.

When you say it like that then yes.

However define success??

Surely there's a trophy involved

We started in there reign a as league 2 team and we still are. Yes we've ventured into the league above but as it stands to this current day please point out the success?? M

2 promotions and 2 relegations that's not successful

Please don't play the 'little old hartlepool card'

Compare out history and that's a million times better but not 'successful'

Well the taxman's not chewing our arse, nobody's sequestering the goalposts, we aren't flirting with non-league football, the players get paid on time, the grounds not a shithole, you can get a bevvy at half time, we don't have holes in the kit, we sometimes beat teams that were recently in the top league and have massive attendances, we don't get home gates of 850 anymore, we command respect in the lower divisions, we get decent sponsorship, we hold the Divisional Fanzine of the Year Award in perpetuity, all eyes are on Hatlepool on the last away game of the season nationally, we owe the bank nowt and we have the cheapest season tickets in the league.

Maybe there's no trophy, but success and progress are not too far apart.

I didn't realise we now needed trophies. Given there are only 7 domestic titles for league clubs (4 of them being respective league titles) and we are one of the smaller teams of the 92 do you not think it unrealistic to expect to have won any of them?

The most likely one Pools could win is the JPT or our league and the odds are still against any club doing that. Winning and FA or League cup would mean beating several teams with massive budgets that isn't impossible but is improbable.

I'll take stability, a new broom and a positive season rather than lose any sleep over our lack of silverware.

Ah so to be successfull you have to be rich and have a great fan base??

Truth is ior took over and we were a league 2 team and we still are. We have no trophies, please point out how we have been successful.

Past is the past, being better than previous years does not mean successful.

Look at our former rivals, similar club, similar fanbase, utterly fucked.

Tell me how surviving and almost getting to the second division without a debt mountain isn't sucess.

If the fact we've historically won no trophies is all there is left to moan about this closed season will have been one of the best on record.

Didn't West Auckland win the World Cup, which is quite ironic in the fact that their neighbours now host Darlo and both are largely defunct?

See, silverware is OK on the day but tomorrow it just wants cleaning and if you don't pay the cleaner........

Darlington AFC no longer exist. There is a non-league outfit called something like Darlington 1234 do the locomotion but they aren't the same club.

Ken has a football league club to run- decent sized crowds, long away trips and their own ground to look after. All of that keeps him far too busy to waste time on the polishing.

Yeah but there was more people on the pitch and the prize money didn't pay for the bus to get there.

We'll face 20,000 at Portsmouth next season, your seasons attendance won't even approach that.

See, you can have the best Bone China dinner service in the world but if all you can put in it is Somerfields own baked beans it's pretty meaningless.
