Did you see the fat bird? She was crying that she was put into a small room and told to strip off. Like it was the first time thats happened to her!!!

Oh woe is me, they said that if we didn't co-operate they would kill us. And you were expecting what?

My late father in law was captured at Dunkirk and spent 5 years in a POW camp in Poland. I only found this out when I was reading a library book and there was a photograph of a group of prisoners, I said to our lass that it looked like her Dad and we had a laugh and showed him it when he came round, he left and returned with the original photo. She never knew about this because he never mentioned it and we'd been married ten years then. That's what I call dignity.

One of my Dad's mates was a prisoner of the Japanese on the Burma Siam railway. Never mentioned it once!!! (my Dad told me) Very strange man though, & he never bought anything Japanese until his dying day

We've had other POW's in recent years probably the most celebrated being 'Bravo Two Zero'. Now ok the story as described by Andy Mason and Chris Ryan was a load of bollox and getting anally shagged by the Iraqis couldn't have been nice but at least they didn't go on TV to lick Sadamms arse.

they are wrong to sell their story but put any of us in their situation, ur threatened with a bullet to the head, i'd foooking do more or less anything to get out out of it.
Plus, some fleet street hack offers you 20 grand to sell your story, yes its wrong but money talks and most people would find it difficult to turn down!

Its ok for the generals etc... to give the orders then slag them off when things don't go right.

The whole thing was wrong mate.

Why did they surrender so meekly?
Where was the backup?
No sign of any air cover.

When captured of course you go along with your captors and try to avoid getting topped but their demeanor was pathetic. All that smiling and grovelling on TV was pathetic.

I bet the Parachute Regiment are loving this.

Blame your tv and press, its seems to be the in thing, make a big deal of a minor incident, sells newspapers and boosts profits.

Mind the way Blair was talking it could have been world war three if they weren't released :!:

Maybe I did over exaggerate, Blair did handle it well because the hostages were released with no harm being done apart from our top brass squirming in embarrasment at our sailors reluctance to be dead heroes.
Hopefully it will disappear from the news and be replaced by Anne nicoles young sprogs father or something else slightly more important.

No one was asking anyone to be dead heroes.... that was never the issue for me, it was their Uriah Heep type grovelling that got me.

I've just recieved this from an old mate of mine ex- Para Regt.

Marines and sailors went to sea
in two blow up rubber boats
they took some money and plenty of honey
but no fukin bullets at all

They sailed away for the rest of the day
to the land where the oil barrels flow
they had no chopper cover but one was a mother
so at least they could all learn to sew

Then out from the land with guns in their hand
came half of Iran's National Guard
and as if it was planned they threw up their hand
a white flag was waved very hard

They were taken away to rest a few days
in rooms in a Teheran hotel
they were looked after well although it was hell
keeping notes so their stories could sell.

It paid off in the end Co's they have a good friend
who fed them and gave them all suits
They waved him good bye cos they didn't want to die
besides they were all in cahoots

Now they're back in this land and B'Lair thinks its grand
He showed all the world how its done
Just stick to your tack and they'll all soon be back
While the worlds greatest Navy is done.

They can tell a good tale of how not to sail
and make it all sound quite aloof
They can each write a story and make it quite wary
But the rest of the world knows the truth.
