.. just a thought, but why not have a membership/season ticket payment paid every month by direct debit, so come june, if I want to, I sign up and pay the cost of the season ticket over 12 months, and by starting two months before the season starts, if anyone defaults on their direct debits, the club have two months money in the bank when they cancel it to cover their costs. This also has the advantage of getting into the ongoing habit of paying out for the ticket over the full year, spreading the cost and making renewal automatic.
Just a thought, because if I have the money for a season ticket in the summer, our lass will think of something better to do with it, as she does every year without fail

It's probably a matter of cash flow Snowy. Big cash injection at the beginning of the season means they can invest in various things, whereas a dribble every month doesn't. Also money makes money so with 6/700K hitting the bank before August, they can put it on the money markets overnight and make maybe 3k a day while they've got no other income through the gates etc. They've still got wages and stuff to pay in the close season.

.. now I imagine that may have been the case under previous management 'styles' Kev, but not so sure under our present owners. I see it as a way of tying down even more season ticket holders without financial risk to the club.

Ah but their bean counters will be looking at all the group companies together and lumping the whole lot into one pot for the benefit of the banks. We don't know why they do what they do with little ole Hartlepool, we're just happy that they do.

But I suspect that there's more than charitable benevolence going on!!

A sensible, logical idea. Pools will never go for it

Im sure you can buy season ticket gift vouchers which you redeem against the cost of next seasons ticket.

My central point was to get people using the direct debit system, thus regarding your season ticket as something you make part of your everyday bill paying life as well as spreading the cost and removing all the bovver associated with renewals ...radical to some, but bread and butter to the retail business and they do know what they're doing.

.. the wonderful thing about footy is...the unpredictability of it. If you go through a bad spell, do you cancel and lose the two months deposit, the bother involved in canacelling, then the season may just turn good again and you still have to pay... as I said, it's just a thought, but we have to keep coming up with ideas that draw people into the club.

getting a season ticket last year was never an option for me as I couldn't afford the bulk sum when they went on sale as I'd just finished Uni and didn't have a penny to scratch my arse crack with. Going to games at times can be innafordable especially when we have a quick succession of games and a big reason why we lose people off the gate. The club could do far worse than charge you something along the lines of £150 lump sum and then 10 x £20 direct debits. I reckon a lot of people would favour that next season especially if we keep this momentum going, make some good pre season signings and people get a sniff of The Championship again

Its neither here nor there though, the club won't have it.

they do it at other clubs. palace used to give fans the option to purchase tickets for 2-3 seasons at a time with monthly payments and big discounts.

i would certainly commit to buying a season tcket for the next 3 seasons if i was getting a big discount and could just set up a direct debit.
If you were to finance the season ticket as a credit agreement, then there'd be no chance of opting out and you'd still get the advantages to both parties.
