I see Mr O'Leary is claiming compensation from the government for the security problems recently.

It's a bit rich coming from him, anyone ever tried to claim compensation for anything from Ryanair? There isn't even a phone number they only accept complaints by fax and your chances of success are extremely limited.

No-ones planes blew up. No-ones planes were ever going to blow up. No-one has been charged ever under the Prevention Of Terrorism Act. No-one ever will be. We're all supposed to live in fear. Fall for it or don't.

Who's going to blow Worksop or Hartlepool away??.......No-one....

doyle - of course there are terrorists and terrorists impose this fear of dread through intimidating the governments and peoples of a country with their threats. I fookin hate bush i despise blair, they have brought a lot of this to 'our doors' yet everyone was told since twin towers that britain is at threat particularly the tube and boom you bugger what happened. the evidence is there in this case itchy arse and they will be charged and they will not be the last. one of the big differences between these sods and the RA is the media who concentrate their resources on making stuff as shocking as possible as if there is some form of hidden agenda.

just cos it won't affect you individually doesnt mean it's not going to happen. i for one was not too 'upset' when the towers went down despite the gravitas of the event and the loss of life i believed that america had 'deserved it' to a certain extent. and what their actions since really quantify this statement. nevertheless, i am english and am 'used to' bombings through 70s onwards and felt little shock that it happened in london last july but felt a shade of anger as it was britain that had been attacked. anyway.....

prevention is better than cure. [smilie=pdt_aliboronz_10.gif]

What it all boils down to is, AIRLINES WERE LOSING DOSH, businesssman and holidaymakers were inconvenienced, and as their priorities in shallow lives promote their tan above security, start whining. Funny how people can get passionate over Big Brother and shit like that, but wave away things that can really change their lives.
PLEASE REMEMBER...when these things happen, Bruce Willis and George Segal will not be clinging to the undercarriage to save you, that only happens in the comfy world the medias created for us all.

I see that the feller they arrested in Pakistan which lead to all these arrests is not now to be extradited to Britain??

I also note that no-one has been charged in connection with the incident since they were arrested twelve days ago.........I note one of the twenty four arrested has now been released without charge.......

Oh hark?? Is that the sound of a case collapsing?????? Media puppets....they say you're going to die in your beds and you run behind the wardrobe just in case

As the Sex Pistols famously said, ever get the feeling you've been cheated??

I might be, I dunno. I do know that they've got everyone shitting themselves without even a slight 'pop' having been heard. That's why those two blokes got slung off that plane yesterday for nowt. Because the governments got everyone scared of their own shadow.

You either fall for it or you don't. I don't. Remember when the Russians were the bogey men?? We all know what happened to them.

I can be if it makes him happy.

But for the record, I'm in Mr O'Leary's corner on this one. You can't blow OWT up with toothpaste, Coca Cola, lipstick, soap, mascara or cheese even if you mix it with gelignite. Which absolutely stinks. Any schoolboy in the science lab can make a bang and a flash. Can they make a significant one??

No, they frucking can't. So who's got the populace scared?? The government or Timmy Terrorist??

Baaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you know that should you be unfortunate enough to ever apply for a job at Ryanair, they charge you £50 to attend an interview. Seriously!

This I know. And their prospective pilots have to pay £200 for the simulator test!!

But their staff are extremely generously salaried.

Bit like Dibble, stealing a living!!

mmm.....

Eleven people have been charged in connection with an alleged plot to blow up several transatlantic airliners.
Eight have been charged with conspiracy to murder and preparing acts of terrorism.

Two are accused of failing to disclose information and a 17-year-old faces a charge of possessing articles useful to a person preparing acts of terrorism.

One woman has been freed without charge and eleven people remain in custody, the Crown Prosecution Service said.

Ahmed Abdullah Ali, Tanvir Hussain, Umar Islam, Arafat Waheed Khan, Assad Ali Sarwar, Adam Khatib, Ibrahim Savant and Waheed Zaman are all charged with conspiracy to murder and with preparing acts of terrorism under section five of the Terrorism Act 2006.

The threat from terrorism is real. It is here, it is deadly and it is enduring

Peter Clarke, Metropolitan Police

Charges in full
Full police statement

The Met's Deputy Assistant Commissioner Peter Clarke told journalists bomb making equipment, including chemicals and electrical components, had been found during the investigation into the alleged plot.

He added a number of video recordings known as "martyrdom videos" had also been recovered.

Mr Clarke said: "I would like to reassure the public that we are doing everything we can to keep you safe so that you can live your lives without being in constant fear.

"The threat from terrorism is real. It is here, it is deadly and it is enduring.

"As we all look for explanations, we cannot afford to be complacent and ignore the reality of what we face".

The investigation is "immense" say police
He added:

"However the investigation is far from complete. The scale is immense, inquiries will span the globe.

"The enormity of the alleged plot will be matched only by our determination to follow every lead and line of inquiry."

An initial 24 people were arrested following police raids in Walthamstow, east London, High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire and Birmingham on 10 August.

Security at airports was increased, causing widespread flight cancellations in the UK for several days.

Scotland Yard said that those charged would appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on Tuesday.

'Immense' investigation

Mr Clarke said the investigation of the material seized by police was likely to take months.

In a highly unusual development, Mr Clarke went into significant detail about the evidence so far uncovered by police inquiries. These included:

69 searches of houses, flats and business premises, vehicles and open spaces

Searches had found more than 400 computers, 200 mobile telephones and 8,000 computer media items such as memory sticks, CDs and DVDs

Police experts have removed 6,000 gigabytes of data from the seized computers

Bomb making equipment, including chemicals and electrical components seized, police say

A number of video recordings recovered.
At the news conference, Susan Hemming, head of the Crown Prosecution Service Counter Terrorism Division, said she had been working with Scotland Yard officers for the past eight days.

"We have been carefully examining and assessing the evidence against each individual with the assistance of anti-terrorist officers in order to come to charging decisions at the earliest practicable opportunity."

She added that the position of the 11 people still in custody would be "assessed on a regular basis".

"We cannot yet make a decision about whether further charges will follow or if a further application for detention will be made on Wednesday, as the evidential picture is continuously developing."
