I see that the Darlo Arena has got a new use. Now the 2nd biggest rugby arena in England after Twickenham

More worrying for Darlo 500g for the price of 250g some of their loyal fans would rather go and watch rugby than drive to Bishop because they can have a beer. This is encouraging for the owners of the arena becauces they cabn put anything on there as long as there's beer involved.

How about:

charriot racing
bear baiting
taxi rank fights
caravan demolition derdies
smackhead altheletics (100m dash for a bag of smack)
Elton John concerts (which could include all of the above)

The sad thing is, the stadium would be an ideal venue for the 2015 RWC; but it never will be because the bobbies won't let more than 10,000 in.

I wouldn't be too surprised if all that is suddenly sortable. The plod have always had a soft spot for egg chasing- I think the mindless violence appeals to them.

Aye, the few top class rugby games I've ever been to, the police have been more concerned with traffic control than in-stadium issues.

Wasn't that 10,000 thing more about traffic congestion than anything else??

Yes, it was a planning restriction that was to remain in place until something like sufficient car parking and new access road(s) were in place which never got built. I think an upgrade to the A66 junction might well have been part of it.

Yes, the great George Reynolds built a new stadium and concentrated more on the hesculators rather than adequate car parking or making arrangements for match day public transport etc. On the opening match day most Loids just used the A66 as a car park.

Top class rugby is a doddle for plod. They're more on the look out for streakers than drunken hoolies

Q Erica Roe http://www.80sactual.com/2008/09/1982-erica-roe-twickenham-streaker.html :uhoh:

England's two great streaking moments: 1) Erika Roe and 2) the guy at the test match (the Oval?) who had his bobby's helmet covered by a quick reacting rozzer with his own bobby's helmet.

Image

For me that is one of the most outstanding press photos ever. An Oscar for the taker please!

She had her jeans on throughout the streak Mr Spender. You might not be interested now but you must have erm... come across some other photos of her at some point.

It's the owld gadgy running breathlessly holding the emergency garment that cracks me up.
That photo couldn't have been any better even if they'd paid the best models in the world to pose for it. It's just perfect in every sense.

He's legging it down to cover up the police brutality that is going to be inflicted on streaking jesus

Errrrrr, naw I think I might have some cross memories of that geezer behind the bobby's helmet and Erica Roe's spectacular top bollocks which, quite frankly, is worrying.
