I am guessing he is I am also guessing the formation as

Dimi

Gibb Liddle Nelson Humphries
Brown Bullock Boland Monkhouse
Barker Williams

Bit of a makeshift defence and also 2 new central midfielders compared to the last few games could be a tough afternoon

Exactly. To suggest that Gibb is a better defender than Darren Williams?
Presume there is some issue or personality clash if Daz is suddenly our third choice right back - thats presuming he actually is third choice.

Apparantly, Darren Williams doesn't want to be here for geniune personal reasons but still acts like a true pro and turns up for work and gives his all. I respect Darren for that, a lot more than someone such as Butler who spat his dummy. Perhaps Wilson was testing Gibb to see whether we'd had decent cover without Williams next season.

Not a time for 'testing' when you're going for the championship in my opinion. Maybe he just felt it was about time Gibb justified being bought and genuinely thought he could do a good job.
And to be fair to the lad, I have no idea what kind of game Gibb had. He may have done ok. Would still have preferred Williams mind, regardless of any personal issue, but ta for letting us know (sort of)

I'm just going on what Darren Williams said on Pools World commentry ages ago btw.

The thing is, Gibb has played their against Chester, done ok. Wilson may have thought let's just give it a go.

i genuinely hope that is a long belated april fools joke...

fact we need a right back, micky barron has been found out a couple of times lately and if darren williams isnt going to be here then we need to look else where. mr gibb is not good enough for a 1st team spot IMO especially in defence. ffs dont shoot me down im just expressing an opinion

I dont think anyone is going to shoot you down. I agree with you. We need a quality right back for next season and Williams needs to play there in the meantime if Barron is ruled out.

gibb was poor but he was far from the only one. wilson took a gamble ( a half fit boland and bullock, gibb at right back ) and it didnt come off. given everything thats happened this season wilson is entitled to make one mistake or two surely?

things will be different today on a decent pitch. hopefully ben will be back and liddle will slot back into midfield.

getting back to the original post it was great to see joel back. he looked very lively and i expect to see a lot more of him today.

im all for giving everyone a go/chance and i think DW realises his mistakes my only concern is why did'nt we play phil turnbull or darren williams at right back and tinks in midfield. i know tinks (IMO) may not be upto our current squads standards but he may of done a better job for 60 mins or so. any way its history now just giving an opinion
