I've added the website to my favourites but not checked out yet. Cant afford anything except camping this year but should be able to book cottages again from next year - my favourite type of holiday.
Private garden, preferably open fire if autumn or spring time, take my laptop along with loads of music on it, days outside and nights in, kids sleeping upstairs, good food and alcohol

I've not had a barge holiday but my cousin once invited me down for the day when she was 'barging' for a week. It was OK, good fun and different, but by the end of the day I'd already got sick of leaping on and off the boat to negotiate locks  Depends what turns you on I suppose

Never done a barge holiday though one of my best friends lives on an old lifeboat in Bristol and I've stayed there a fair few times. I am also a regular reader of Hoseasons Boating Brochure. It's great. They have all kinds of craft that'll suit you just fine, for messing about on the water. :sweeeet:

Do they have Sailboats, Canal Boats and Cruisers too, and are all Britain's waterways waiting for you.?

Did a barge holiday when I was 18 (long time ago now) it was brilliant, fit as a butchers dog in those days mind, lock staircases we would run the 1/4 - 1/2 mile between locks, work the lock run to the next one, work.... you get the picture, loads of pubs near the canals to quench the resulting thirst It were GREAT

We once stayed at the cottage at the bottom of those steps,it was amazing to go out and see the real Whitby when you stay and not just on a day out.
