Na.

But then again if I'm drunk I stay awake for a while anyway, and I think the hangover kicks in while I'm asleep.

someone that I know blames the cleaning chemicals that the pubs use for rinsing glasses as being the cause of bad hangovers. Each time you get a new pint you are drinking more chemicals.

i have to admit i never feel any where near as rough when I stick to drinking cans or bottles......

I remember people going ooh just wait til you're over thirty, then you wont be able to eat all that crap and not put any weight on, and you wont be able to put all that alcohol away and feel okay the next day.
And the bastards were right as well.
Like Groovy, if I have a proper drink it takes me ages to recover properly. The next day I feel fucking pathetic.
Problem is, I still love getting drunk as well, particularly on strong dark beer in pints. And I can drink loads, probably more than I ever could.
Its just the next day.
If I remember, I try to have a pint of water and some paracetemol before I go to bed, but I rarely do.

paracetemol before bed is a no no, so they say, as it upsets the tummykins, fook knows what affect six brown and a shit load of brandy does, along with a mixed keebab and chips

PS

how does one pronounce it, paracetemol , I say it the old fashioned way para SEAT amaol, not the god awful US way, Para cet a mol

yeah, para seat amol
Have wanted to get Resolve or whatever but never seem to be that organised. There always seems to be paracetemol in.
Wouldnt mind a tip on the best hangover cure/tablet from people (excluding the 'dont drink' one)

its water and kip that does the job

you always feel worse in a morning if you dont have normal kip and them an hour for every three pints - so if you're on a gallon add three hours kip extra and some h2o before bed and plenty in the bedroom

i was ok on sat morning after i sorted the tiredness out

I used to be like that between the ages of 17 to 23. Most of my drinking sessions in the RAF are a complete blur. Wish I had a tenner for every time I woke on my bed, fully clothed, not able to remember how I got there.

Obviously the other sarcastic answer apart from don't drink is stay drunk!! Just as helpful as well.

These days I only have a drink when I listen to the match and I have to say I feel shite the next day even after the pathetically small amount I have in three hours 'cos the match finishes about 1am. Christ knows how I used to cope when I had a drink most days. Christ also knows how I'm going to cope when I get royally battered when we get a. promoted and b. Nope still daren't say it!!

Might be a valid point about the chemicals like. German, Belgian, Polish or other foreign beers certainly don't leave you feeling as cack as say Carling or Stella in the UK. They only allow water, hops, yeast, barley and malt in their brewing processes, no preservatives etc.

I tend not to get hungover mainly cos my tipple is red wine these days and when the bottle's gone it's time to stop. Also in my job we can get random tested for alcohol and drugs so that tends to reign me in a bit anyway.
funny you mention about the chemicals in lager, been at a couple of academy/arena type gigs recently where the only choice was plastic lager and I did notice the effect next morning. most of the pubs in this part of the world give out free water all night especially bristol and plymouth, not sure if it's a condition of the licence, but it makes a big difference if you're out on a session to have a few glugs of water on the way.

Random tested for alcohol and drugs Dawlish?
Jesus, talk about big brother...thats a bit controversial in my mind.
What job do you do then?
And what do you think about it?

Fortunately I don't get hangovers but there again I don't get drunk. I do tend to down a reasonable amount of wine (3 bottles a week on average) but I can't drink much beer - after 2 pints I can feel the effect.

Pre match I drink lager shandy and when going out its wine or bottled water.

I work on the trains mate, high speed into london and down as far as penzance. Generally I'm cool about it,it's a condition of the job and was introduced after one of the major train crashes but the limit is a third of the drink drive limit! so I can drive to work after a pint and pass a police breath test then get to work and get sacked for exactly the same test!!

Suppose I can understand with high speed trains and cranes etc.
Didnt think it was that commonplace mind but can understand why such companies do it, plus there is a responsibility to not go into work under the influence of anything.
What drugs do they test for? There's lots of different levels to a test.
Probably cannabis and chemical based stuff like ecstasy, amphetamine, cocaine etc I would imagine. They're the easiest to detect.

stagecoach have a RANDOM drugs/alcohol test policy which always seems to be random the day after your birthday!
mind our limit is lower than the police limit and know of 3 drivers who have lost their jobs through being over the limit.
one was a back turn and didnt start work till 3.30 in the afternoon.
i have no problem with it if i am at work early i dont drink the night before as ultimately i could be responsible for 60 people on my bus
