Based on the current form of all the leading teams and extrapolating that form over the rest of the season, here's how it would finish.

Hartlepool U. 95
Walsall 89
Swindon Town 88
Milton Keynes 84
Lincoln City 79
Stockport Co. 74
Wycombe Wdrs. 71
Shrewsbury Tn. 71
Darlington 66
Bristol Rvs. 64
Peterborough 64

Come to think of it, that would make for a very comfortable last day for all of the top three. We would go into the game against Bristol with nothing at stake and have a day of showboating. Swindon and Walsall could also have their last game knowing that they were both already promoted.

That would be nice,I really hope though that we can get the points needed to confirm the title during a home game (Notts County seems plausible)

Lets face it. After the past 6 seasons, should we have expected anything else other than a tense last game of the season.

Can't actually remember the feeling of a mid table, end of season, nothing to play for game

Very true Mr Judge, I think its going to the wire again for a tense finish

Interesting thing is, Especially if the league stays similar to what it is now come the end of the season, Swindon might just need to go to Walsall and play for a win to get promoted ahead of McDonalds

Interesting & Exciting times ahead, Thats what makes it good about being a Football - Better yet a Pools Supporter

Indeed there is. I reckon you lot and us are nailed on for promotion then its any one from three.

Frankly I'm not bothered about the third place but I am pleased that Walsall look like they've got over their stumble. From what I've seen of their fans, they seem like a good bunch despite the accent

Amusing though that might be Mr Fireball, and definitely worth a long haul flight, it would be scant consolation.

Cheers,

Our manager is making noises in the press about chasing the top spot and largely ignoring what's going on below, something I agree with really, both for psychological purposes and the fact that isn't over......

......quite

From the last ten league matches, the top five have accumulated the following number of points out of thirty

Pools - 26
Walsall - 16
Swindon - 14
MK - 17
Lincoln - 11

Lincoln's form has been almost relegation form!!! We can rule them out from catching us now. We need to lose either Swindon or MK, it's looking like MK at the minute. Their home fixtures all look winnable, but their three away games are at Shrewsbury, Stockport and Wycombe.
Then it should be a three-way shoot-out for the title, which should go to Pools if we win our last three home games (which I think we will). That's at least 90 points without even considering our last three away games. That means that the other two must get at least 14 points from their last eighteen - but what's the odds on a draw when they play each other? That means they both would have to win every other game if we collect another three wins for either to stand a real chance. It also assumes we would lose our three away games, or start drawing at home to the kind of opposition we have been eating for breakfast without even getting into top gear.
