...should get more credit.

Basically I've been on the gauge in Derby all day, and got the Red Arrow bus home.

It goes from Derby centre to Nottingham centre without stopping.

However, I live just off the A52 in the middle, which the Red Arrow goes along. I mentioned this to the driver, and he said to me, 'Sometimes when I have to stop at lights near where you live, I relax a bit, and my hand slips and hits the door open button by mistake.'

Top man. Saved me getting another bus out of Notts.

PS the A52 is now known as 'Brian Clough Way' which I think is quality. There's signposts all the way along it.

that kid that was killed in the town on Friday as she got off the bus
apparently was stood in an open door way while the bus was in motion
so who is to blame the passenger for leaving the seat or the driver for having the door open
over to YOU
NO 6 BUS

the grl was sat down and seen her mate near the juntion of milbank/powlett road as the driver was concentrating on getting the bus round a very tight corner the girl got up and pressed the emergency door opening switch and jumped off forgetting that the front wheels are just behind the door and if you are turning left the wheel will be proud of the body of the bus unfortunately this was a tragic accident but the driver who was in no way to blame (i know he is a colleague as well as a friend so you would expect me to stick up for him but it is true) has to live with the consequences of this girls actions

i heard a similar story, the only difference being that the driver already had the door open to see the kerb as its a tight turn. i knew the kid involved, and while she was a smashing kid, its fair to say she wasnt the brightest of lasses. i also heard that the driver may be being prosecuted.

it sounds to me like a tragic accident and my heart goes out to all involved. as i said before the driver must be traumatised, as indeed must anybody who witnessed it.

no the driver is a very experienced driver with 20 years service and he is also a trainer driver (when a new driver arrives we have 3 driver mentors who learn them the routes fares etc and train them up to a level of going out on their own) and he told me the facts on saturday morning and he did not have the doors open.
mind its sods law that all the buses in the town with cctv on and this happens on a one without it fitted.as to prosecution the odds on that happening are very slim. the police took fingerprints of the emergency door buttons as the people on the bus have backed up the drivers version
