A previous post got me thinking about the Ships Wheel crest.
Given that it's our centenary season next year and we will (hopefully - no addition of chickens going on in the Courthouse as yet!!) have silverware to show for it, is it time for the Bunkerites to show our collective might and propose a change of club crest.
The old stag as previously posted would be my vote with our new motto Never Say Die which upon investigation is "Nil Desperdvm" in Latin or NIL DESPERANDVM "nothing is to be despaired of" never say die Yogi Berra: 'the game ain't over til it's over' as taken from a Latin Traslation site. (not sure I saw the episode where Yogi Berra taught Boo Boo Latin!!)

Anyone up for the new "Change our clubs crest" petition

I may be in a group of one here but why don't we just leave it alone this constant change for changing sake mentality (not just at Pools but in general) is getting rather tedious if it ain't broke???

I would say that the club badge IS broken. It looks crap.

Also, will our centenary year not be the season after next?

There is nowt wrong with the club badge, it's instantly recognisable and besides that I have just aquired a real ships wheel to create a 3D badge on me new shed.
Seriously though , I like it, always have the only thing I don't ike is the motto, it should've been 'Never say die' right from the start.

It should be changed to "Never Say Die" instead of "The Town's Club" - I mean FFS, it's the biggest throwaway line ever. We live in a town and it has a club. Won't forgive the designer for that one.

I can live with the rest, especially now they've given it a black outline on the strips

IT'S CRAP. as for the 'why change it' point of view ...we'd all be driving around in chariots and moaning about the price of unleaded hay if we took that attitude.

It should be the hart again, if anything.

Has anybody got a website or a picture with all of our past logos on?

Perhaps for the centenary they should think about using the clubs first badge - Katcha, is the crest on the front of your book the first one? A blue shield with the letters HUFC sort of overlayed on each other.

Or maybe something incorporating the original West Hartlepool FC crest to honour where we came from - To be honest I've never seen a West badge so it could look pony. Anyone got a pic of it?

Would be a bit ironic thought wouldnt it?
A new badge: a picture of a hart with the motto 'Never Say Die', given that the poor fucker died in the first place to get the town the name.
Having said that I do like the hart idea and the motto NSD is definitely current and punchy enough.

Unless my memory is letting me down that wasn't the designer's call. When we held the competition to come up with a new logo I'm pretty sure the entrants were told that a) it must have a nautical theme and b) it must incorporate the slogan "The town's club"

I remember that aswell!!!! :sweeeet:

Is the underlying thing here that the fans want to do something to celebrate our clubs centenary?

Do "the fans" want to have a bit of a whip round and buy something that would be a lasting symbol of their allegiance with the club at Victoria Park.

The sort of thing I'm thinking of could be a clock/timer or scoreboard perhaps stuck on the front valence of the Mill House Stand.

I've no idea how much something like that would cost but it would look good!
