Anyone care to register a vote from the Swindon game?

Franks got the vote for the Crewe gane (I discounted the votes for Nish although I agree he contributed as much as those who did play).

For me the match on Saturday was an entertaining game against a big, costly side. Watching Di Canio blow a fuse was worth the £6.74 alone.

A number of good signs and areas for improvement:
some neat passing moves
the pace of Poole and Franks will frighten defences
we have more options for the outball - channel for Poole/James to run into, Howard to hold it up or flick it on, wide men to hit who are wide men
we are more threatening from set pieces with Howard, Collins, Hartley, Monky in air
Walton and Sweeney not used to each other yet
Franks needs to show a bit more composure
Austin to add some bite to go with his positional play
Horwood needs more defensive positional sense to complement his good forward play and delivery

Monky a threat in the air? Who to? Admittedly he sometimes wins the ball, but directing a header is a different matter...it's a big reason why he was pretty much a waste of space as a stand in central striker last season, and begs the question what happens if Howard gets injured this? Change the game plan or stick Monky in there again??

Sorry to make a negative comment when you are looking at postives, but I can't wear this one. Collins and Hartley need to do a lot more work on attacking set plays too - 5 goals between them all last season. They're all big lads, but headers over the bar don't win anything except opposition goal kicks.

Pace of Poole? There 6ft6 centre back was quicker than him. Maybe he is just lightning fast?
