Yesterday I was in the pub with a some mates and their bewers.

The conversation got round to my mate's brother-in-law, who is a complete chopper.

Now my mate didn't make one derogatory remark about him. In fact, he didn't screw his face up, tut or anything.

BUT, their lass said 'Don't you dare say anything about him!'

To which he replied 'I haven't said feck all have I?'

To which she replied, 'Yes, but I know what you think of him'

Now I wasn't drinking, so I was able to objectively and soberly analyse the situation.

My mate was being completely honourable, by biting his tongue and not making a snide comment about his brother-in-law.

However, he is still made to look the bad man by their lass. She read his mind, and translated his thoughts into something she can broadcast to everyone, so she can publicy chide him. Even though he did absolutely nowt wrong, he got a ticking off because he potentially could have done.

I stopped the conversation to reveal this bit of insight, but still everyone seemed to side with her and think my mate was mean.

How do they do it?

Don't try and get any logic from a woman. It's my first rule of life.

A year or two ago a mate of mine was watching TV with their lass. Joanna Lumley popped up and he made a comment that even at 60 she still looks attractive and well preserved.

A full four months later they were having something to eat and he said "this steak could do with a minute or two more" to which she replied:

"well get Joanna fecking Lumley to fry your fecking steak then "

exactly...women are like basking sharks who will wait months to strike ...a favourite is where you pass some seemingly innocent comment and find yourself being woken up at some ungodly hour to explain what you meant by it. ..."no wonder my confidence is shattered" steams forth from someone who has the modesty and kill ethos of Lord Flashart and General Patton combined ......

Here's my contribution.
Some years ago I read an article in a national newspaper about a particularly mean trick played on a woman by her husband. I thought it was despicable and brought it to the attention of my wife.
She immediately launched into a tirade about men in general, and me in particular, listing all my (imaginary) faults and blaming me for what had happened.
When I pointed out that the 'sin' in question had been committed by someone else who was about 200 miles away and that therefore I did not derseve such a bollocking she retorted "ah yes, but its the type of thing you would do if you thought you could get away with it."

By the way; don't be caught sitting smiling for no obvious reason - it can lead to all sorts of complications.
