the squad we have at the murment is for me best in a 4-3-3, as much as birthmark may hate that formation.

A midfield 3 of sweeney, walton n murrey would offer enough cover for the back 4 and enough creativity going forward, to just drop murrey like a stone after such a good year last time around is criminal.

play howard up top by himself with poole and james on the flanks and in support and bobs your mother fucking uncle.

I don't hate 433 and for the record I don't love 442, I just love watching pools and seeing us play well and win games. If that's 433 then fair doos. As you will see above Iv went for a 4132 formation as I believe Paul murray must be used in a holding role.

On a separate note if your going to become the spelling police ( coupon thread) at least learn how to spell murray

Dropping Franks already?

I agree with the team posted a couple of posts above. Sweeney for me is a major problem and always has been. Now im not knocking his goal scoring ability/knack of getting on the end of things-he does it really well and his goals have been vital but when the opposition have the ball we may aswell have ten men (and just 1 in centrel midfield when were playing 4-4-2) Now Walton to me looks like he wants to get forward, i see little comparison to Tinkler in him at all apart from size and cant see him controlling the midfield on his own like Tinks often did.

I dont think 4-4-2 is suited to the squad we have at all, but Cooper seems certain its how we have to play.

Not been to any games, but I know that 4 4 2 wont work. Not regularly. Have we learned nothing from the best teams in the world?

4-4-2 could work with the right players, the problem is we don't appear to have the players to fit that system. As for learning things from the best teams in the world you are having a laugh - the management team haven't learned that playing Sweeney in the middle in a 442 formation doesn't work. That is something Cooper should know and if he doesn't Barron and Humphreys certainly should...

Thing is the best teams In the world have the best players in the world and can adapt to many formations. We have whatever we can afford.

They are not that bad that they cant adapt to a more up to date and progressive system.

I wont say formation as that in itself is so bloody typically english.

Have you never noticed that whenever a spain game, or a barcelona game is shown in this country our pundits stick up the team in a formation. And get seriously baffled when the players just seem to play where they like.

They just make sure they all work hard, and cover each other.

Is it really lost on most people how restrictive playing 4 4 2 is? Or how easy it is to defend against generally?

442 such an English formation that's really out dated now.

It's too rigid, too restrictive, if 1 person doesn't do his job it falls apart too easily.

The holding role position nowadays is a must IMO. I just hope Murray plays there Saturday. Build a formation around him that hopefully works
