There's a team award so if wiggins misses out you can bet team sky will nail it.

I can see ennis wiggins and mo in top 3 but can't see which way it will go at all.

Aslong as that Ginger 'lovely lovely person' Paul scholes gets nowhere near it I'll be happy, when giggs won it was a joke as during that year he'd hardly did fuck all and got it simply because he played for man utd for umpteen years

It's a tough call deciding which Olympic Gold Medallist did better than the others.
There is however only one first ever British winner of the world's toughest event among them and that clinches it for me.
If it goes to anyone not on that list, except maybe to another great Olympian like Ben Ainslie, the sporting public has taken leave of its senses

PS is there a filter that can prevent Chariots of Friggin Fire being played non-stop?

Well done to all the athletes but seriously it's going to be difficult to choose out of so many who have done so well, therefore I think they should just award it to John Terry!

The team award will go to the England football team for their desperately unlucky loss to Spain in the final of the Euros and their deserved place in the World's top three.

Surely this year all Gold medalists get the same 'Top' award and do away with the 'Sports Personality' award....have a Roll Call of each winner with footage and give them a 'Gong'....this year they all deserve a 'Top Title'!!!!

I sort of agree with you Mutley but how for example is the woman who won the 200m canoe sprint gold the same as mo Farahs double gold over the 5000 and 10000 metres. Also I couldn't imagine the pressure on Jess ennis shoulders being the face of the games and her gold was over 7 events with no mistakes at all and wiggins has the tour de France aswell as his gold. You do have a point though and all winners have done Britain extremely proud

Or they could just make do with the gold medal they won. You know, the thing they wanted to win?

Is it really better than an Olympic medal if the BBC say you're OK?? sctatchinghead

The whole programme is a bit of an embarassment and a really awkward couple of hours of TV.

Totally agree...like when Bobby Charlton won the special award....and stood and spoke on how playing football really well was easy for him. Sort of came natural like to him. And his kid brother (Jackie) presented his award. I expected one of my all time British/English sporting heroes to be a little more gracious and humane when receiving their award. He looked like he couldn't wait to get off the stage. :uhoh:
