...that there's nowt going on with the campaign at the moment. No action for almost three weeks.

You do know that this is playing into their hands?? This is exactly what they want.

They'll stick it on the back burner for as long as they can so that the positive publicity dies down and then they can say 'oh well...no-one's that bothered.'

It needs someone to point out that nothing is coming from the council, long and loud. This prevarication about council meetings and 'more information' needs to be made to look like they're dragging their heels which is exactly what they're doing.

It also needs pointing out that, while several hundred people are in favour of the plan, only three council members have so far expressed an interest by attending meetings.

It also needs pointing out that it wasn't on the last council meeting agenda.

It also needs someone to ask exactly what information they're waiting for and why it hasn't been delivered.

Nail on head Mr Spender. I predicted as much on 19 June but they appear to be getting away with it...

All cllrs are in favour of the development however, they want more detail on the finances of the plans. Threfore they have asked finance officers at HBC to go away and get more detail. In their opinion this will take some weeks so it is likely the Extraordinary Council meeting will be postponed (I am checking with democratic services at HBC).

This doesn't surprise me in the least little bit and is part of the game that the council is playing.

If they put back the ECM under any pretence then it is the Labour group's game to try and piss IOR off and "show them who's boss". By doing it under the pretence of wanting even more information (which they could've asked for yonks ago) then they're trying to claim the moral high ground in any media exchange. They are probably hoping that either IOR or the MHAAG will have an emotive response slagging them off in order for them to bin the whole plan but still claim that it wasn't their fault etc etc blah blah blah.

In addition, they probably think and hope that any delay will take the wind out of the MHAAG sails and slow the public and media momentum which is currently building in favour of the plans being approved.

It can be done.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19183904

OK, there's a big chunk of parachute payment involved, but it's a council helping a football club as they understand that it brings revenue to the town.

Best thing is it's current and nationally reported.

Get in there.

I also just read Mr Fetishes thing about Bradford where again the council are putting up cash.

These things need to be publicised. Waiting for the council is a big mistake in my view, we need to stay on the front foot.

Just a simple statement quoting these two examples keeps it in the public view.

That is very important.

Just a point re not being on agenda - the people who are putting the plan together have not provided the info the cllrs want therefore they can't make a decision yet.

Yeah. They wanted all the steam to go away. It's working. Shame.

Seems like there's some in-fighting as well.

What did anyone really expect?

Hartlepool is a dead end town, with brain dead people running its services.

That said, it was going to be very difficult to get this thing really running from a HUFC supporting message board, whose own agenda was sure to be questioned.

Oh come on, get real you lot. How many of you were interested in this for any other reason than Pools getting the ground? REALLY?

Ask yourself this.

Lets just say this was an utterly brilliant idea, but didnt involve Pools at all. How many of you would have gone to the meetings anyway?

Aye, of course you would.

The only way our current councillors could ever keep power, is to keep the town as shitty as possible. If the profile of the town got raised, and outward investment came in, the prfile of the people in the town would change......more affluent, intelligent people would come and live here, and the councillors would be replaced like wise.

Its a race to the bottom, and Hartlepool has always been near the bottom. And some want to keep it that way. Just read HTH for that to be confirmed.

If you want to get on, get out.

If only it were that easy.

Where have I slagged Pools off?

Sometimes I dont think you read things, you just assume.

For the record though, I merely exist here. Other than the kids footy team, I cant think of many things I do here.

I dont use the town centre, well why would I?

I dont drink in any of the pubs. I dont drink at all now, by the way. Havent had any alcohol for two months and counting.

I dont think I use any of the facilities either, though my kids do. Even our footy team dont use a council pitch.

I DO though, pay my full council tax, unlike most in this town. That gives me more rights than most I believe.
