Knowing how spineless and career-oriented most politicos are, is it worth an approach to the Labour Party? Along the lines of one of your councils are looking to block a positive development for the town, regenerating much needed real estate and providing jobs. The focus of the coalition seems to be drifting to policies for growth and it was Labour who started that line a couple of years ago. It would be a good time for labour to be seen as actively seeking and supporting growth projects and gain some kudos. They might be able to put pressure on the local party / councillors to get on board.

I am not a card carrying Labour gadgie but if anyone was on here there voice may add more clout.

Just a thought.

I'm a card-carrying Labour member and I've already let my thoughts be known.

Kolley - how do you think a lapsed Labourite's letter would be received - is it worth it and if so, is it still the Walworth Road address?

I've sent mine to Iain Wright via email. I know Iain relatively well anyway, so I hope he's taken it onboard. Sending it to central HQ? I don't think it would have any impact to be brutally honest.
