Announced on BBC website that he has been released by Leicester.

I wonder then if there will be some news soon on us completing the signing of a powerful centre forward. Throston bookies and the Staincliffe are covered with my people just incase

I don't think he will be. What bigger clubs do you think would want him?

He's at the wrong end of his career and not scored many over the last couple of years, I don't think he's going to be fighting off League 1 clubs and I think he'll be seriously tempted by a move back here.

Darius Vassell has left Leicester as well but I'm not sure he'd come down to League 1.

We wouldn't be able to afford Vassell, I'd have thought he'd be looking for a Championship side

Howard lives in Tynemouth so it would be a good move for him location wise providing we can afford him. He's 36 now so i dont think he can command massive wages, nothing higher than Solano was on surely!

I wouldn't come back if I were Howard. The boo boys crucified him at a time when we were rank rotten. One in a long line of players crucified by sections of the crowd and went onto bigger and better things.

Personally don't think we should bring him back anyway. Not played or scored much over the last two years, will of lost that sharpness that playing regularly brings and let's face it - rarely turns out well bringing old players back.

We also have a lot of good youngsters but they still need to learn from experienced pros.

He takes his kids to the nursery next door to where i work, as does steven caldwell. I spoke to him last year for a bit and he said he would come back if Barron was the manager. Our main advantage is the location and he would want to see his young family more, 36 or not id still take him.

No, I never asked him about this directly. He did say that he wanted to settle with his family back in the north east when he finished playing.

It could be said that Nobby finished playing when he signed for us!

I think we've had a enough players looking for their last pay - other than Nobby the worst one in recent memory is Robbie Elliot.

We've got plenty of 'experienced' players and some promising kids. It's the inbetween - hungry, mid 20's players looking to move up the leagues that we are missing. I'd be trawling league 1 and league 2 clubs for these players. Paying the £50k's - £100k's for players like we used too - Micky Nelson, Richie Barker etc. Thats what got us winning and playing exciting football.

Not the championship has beens looking for the last £75-100k of their career.

Northen Echo tonight reports our interest-the wage cap evens things up a bit-Howard is coaching at Tow Law-big mates with Barron and knows he'll get God like status and a game each week.

No brainer-as previosuly said we got Solano-won't be on much more surely?

Don't agree with that, he had far from god like status when he was here so what he's done elsewhere probably won't change that.

I feel its a step in the wrong direction if we sign him, could see him wanting decent wages aswell. I still think Nish will come good aswell

Thats the part that worries me the most. There has been too much 'big mates' at Pools for some years. I want them to fear the management not be best buddies.

I hope your right but from what I have seen of Nish he is no where near a league 1 forward.

Just out of interest, how many times have you seen him play? One, six, twenty? How many?
