The Debt

Dont know if anyone has put a thread about this film yet but if they havn't i watched it last night and really enjoyed it clappp

It has the sexy Helen Mirren in it about a group of Mossad agents who are hunting a nazi death doctor to make him stand trial but it goes a bit tits up, it's set in modern day but keeps jumping back to what happened.

Very good film and worth a watch, i await the boards Barry Norman (Mutley) to give his review

Wild Bill. I thought that I needed another East End gangster film like I needed piles. But this is genuinely excellent. See it.

Just to prove that the system works...I chose a few fillums to watch over the last few days based on some of the suggestions on here. All very different in styles I guess.

Win Win - Great fillum and had some decent funny moments - 8/10

Devils Double - A real find this one, cracking acting from the lead two guys and a chilling insight into life in the Iraq of the 80's and 90's. - 10/10

Office Space - A bit light and had some good laughs in it, not bad at all depending on the mood you're in I suppose. Worth wasting an hour and a half on though - 7/10

Tyrannosaur - Grim, dark and very very gritty! Cracking fillum that kept me watching from the first to the last moment. The acting made it for me, the story could have been a bit predictable if you thought about it, but the cast more than made up for it. - 9.5/10 (Loses a half for killing too many dogs...lol!).

I have Fire In Babylon lined up to watch and will trawl through some older posts to see what I may have missed.

And Homeland is a great watch, if you haven't done so get watching it now!

Bad Teacher is a decent laugh. Not going to pull up any trees, but a bit of smutty fun.

Iron Man pulls up trees.

Ted Hughes, not Stan Lee

It was the first series finale of Homeland tonight for us watching it on television as it should be.

Stunningly good show, the ensemble is superb and I cannot trust a single one of the characters which constantly kept me guessing all throughout the series. 9.5/10 for series one and I may join the treacherous internet streamers for series two.

Although at the risk of losing any sort of minor respect anybody may have for me on this board, I find it appropriate to mention that Desperate Housewives is bubbling up to a cracking finale too bbolt bbolt

I finally got round to start watching Alcatraz the other day and watched the first 3 episodes, it has started out ok but already it seems like each episode is going to be a bit samey as the the others.

Has anyone watched the full first series yet, is it worth sticking with?

George RR Martin can fook right off. But you wouldn't understand why unless you'd been reading the books.

Well first off, volume 1 came out in 1996 and he's only recently released vol. 5: he's an author who keeps you waiting four years between episodes. He makes even Robert Jordan seem lightning quick.
I didn't start reading the series till about 2007, not realising he was such a slowcoach until I got to the end of the fourth book. He announced the fifth book would be released in late 2008. He was only three years out.

The first three books might have been excellent but that fourth one was utter tosh; he was just biding his time by chucking a book together out of previously written side plots to string his readers along. There wasn't a single main character in it. The thing is when challenged on these points (he'd originally sworn blind that the series would stop at four books), he basically said the readers can welcome to the board, he has no obligations to them, he didn't make them buy his books.

So if you like a book where the more you read the more it becomes clear there isn't and never was a plot ("the readers kept asking for dragons so I gave them dragons"), you'll certainly enjoy A Song of Ice and Fire. Martin is taking the piss. His idea was originally to sell the story as a TV series. Once that finally did happen he had his cash and lost interest. So fook him. I haven't bought the fifth book. After being duped by him and by Robert Jordan (who took so frigging long to get to the end he died before getting there), I now refuse to buy any -logy that isn't yet completed.

The problem is book 4 isn't even well written. To tell the truth I don't find any of the books particularly well written but the intrigue and pace makes up for the dodgy style in the first three.
The fourth however has no pace or intrigue at all, and as if Martin didn't have enough plot threads going already, book four adds another dose and he gets even more bogged down in the uninteresting characters than he does in the main ones, especially that big ugly warrior woman whose name I don't recall.
I only wish I'd opted out a book earlier because these things take a good chunk of your life to read.

All this of course has nothing to do with the quality of the TV production, which I haven't seen.

Even though its been a bank holiday i'm still up at daft o'clock in the morning and ive watched a film each morning and everyone has been a cracking film

City of God - brilliant

In Darkness - Its in Polish but is an amazing film, true story about a Polish sewage worker who looks after Jews living down there to escape from the Germans, its a long film but is very well worth watching

The flowers of war - Its half in English and half in subtitles starring Christian Bale looking after a group of orphans and prostitutes in China as the Japs invade, some good fight scene's but gets a bit daft towards the end but well worth a watch

Never seen it but I know the basic premise of the plot. I sincerely think anyone who invents such a story must be a be a fucking nutcase .

I am far too squeamish to watch it so I wikipedia'd the plot. I will however say the plot to the sequel is even crazier and more disturbing than the first.

Just watched this. A guitar players' film certainly, but probably fascinating to anyone who likes rock music.
Three superfamous guitarists, three generations, three approaches. Humour provided by Jack White. Jimmy Page looking like the very first Dr Who.

I was more shocked watching Men In Black 3 when that alien creature crawled into 'Boris's' hand!!!! :-D

I've just realized I saw that film in a rock and roll restaurant that had the video playing, maybe 18 months ago.
Neat film -- watching heavy metallurgists grow old before your eyes!
