Bit of help required. I currently work at Tata Steel and applied for volountary redundancy back last august. Found out today they can't find a suitable replacement for me so I won't be getting it.. I was hoping to get offshore and into weld inspection etc as I have a few NDT quals, a degree in materials engineering and have always been intrested in that side of it. Downside is I was going to invest my redundancy into offshore survival/ropes/weld inspection course. I have notcied a few here seem to be based offshore or in Aberdeen and wondered if any had any advice or companies I could send off my CV to who may be willing to take me on.

Could be barking up the wrong tree, but noticed a few on here as I say.

Any help appreciated.

Ta

I work in the Oil & Gas industry.....I'll have a think and drop you a PM with the names of some of the companies my employer use for these type of services. Being prepared to put yourself through your survival and medical is a good start though.

Oh I am willing to pay for them if there is something there once it's done. I'd pay for any training they required as long as the work was there. Anyway thanks for you reply and I will look forward to your pm.

Thanks again.

Amec & Petrofac are good companys to get on for.

Chrissy, some good sites to register your C.V. as follows; oilcareers.com, oilandgasjobsearch.com, fircroft.com, hazellengineering.com, orionjobs.com (they just got me my new job in Holland with Fabricom), oilandgaspeople.com. You register your C.V. and they will send you alerts when there are jobs that match your search criteria or they might call you direct. There are more but these seem to be the main ones. It would probably pay to have your C.V. looked at by a company which offers to do this for free, they tell you how to structure it and what employers are looking for in a C.V. etc.
You won't need a site safety for offshore but you will need the equivalent which is a M.I.S.T. card. This can be done at Falck Nutec at Haverton Hill; they sometimes offer it for half price if you do your survival at the same time, it'll be around about £850-900 for the two. Your medical which you also need is about £140. These all last for 3 years.
Another good way to put youself in the shop window is register on a site called Linked in, it's sort of an oil professionals poor version of Facebook. Recruiters go on this site looking for suitable people or you can even advertise your own services. I've had quite a few hits off this site over the last couple of months as there are hundreds of recruiters using it.
Now is a very good time for you to get into the offshore industry, there are dozens of new projects and upgrades or overhauls coming up.
If you need any help with anything pm me.
PS I'm leaving Amec, they're a shower of shit but they have got a lot of work!

Any amounts of work coming up this year on and offshore. I've just got a start with oceaneering out of the Stockton office so hopefully won't have to work away. Shutdown starting 16th April at aromatics think it's the seal sands for 6 weeks. Send your cv to oceaneering, mc2, mactech, ndt services, radexinspection, applus rtd etc all got work coming up.

You'll probably beat us - I think we've only won 2 from about 8..... Last week we got stuffed as the other team did actually have Messi playing for them - the young kid who tore us apart was shit hot...

And Stevo needs to get his priorities right ......

Thought I recognised you. I was on the 10.20 to Amsterdam. You've been to a couple of away games on the same buses as me, Watford and Sheff Wed. I think.

Your mate has wiped my ankle out again with his slide tackle haha I was more shocked at the fact it was a 35 yard slide tackle than anything else. Ankle is fucked today like, hopefully be Ok for sunday.

That game last night was a mess from our point of view like, thinking about fucking the league off if we are gonna play like that every week.

Was a terrible performance by us, heads just went down and and no organisation at all. As Jonny said was shambolic. As for the tempers I will apologise for my part in that but there was no need for the challenges that were coming in. I once got snapped on there and broke my wrist and arm and had to have pins inserted and had 19 weeks on the sick. So when people leave trailing legs in on me in those conditions its understandable to be a little peed off and the fact we were so bad made it worse. Bear in mind there is a no slide tackle rule also.

Anyways well played you deserved to win

I must admit some of the challenges did look a bit reckless, so apologies for that. Tempers fly near enough all games but once whistles blown and hands are shaken its forgotten about. Its a decent little league like, I wish the games where longer though as £3.60 a man for half hour doesnt seem great

It was a decent-ish game but a very poor performance by us. I think it's the first time I've played on there and not committed a foul - normally it's at least 3 per mach. It can be difficult not to slide in those conditions.

The number 2 - (the one who scored the first goal for Scotland) was without doubt the stand out player. As for playing 55 minutes ...? I think most of us struggle to keep going for 30......
