Whilst we're on the subject of religeon and schools and that, lets do a straw poll to see who actually believes there there is a God.

Definitions:

Believer: you completely accept the existance of a higher being (irrespective of names such as God, Allah, Vishnu etc... and attend church ermmm.. religeously.

Agnostic: You do not believe in a God because of a lack of proof but do not rule it out.

Athiest: You find the concept of a God completely ridiculous and reject it completely.

Why get married in a church if you don't believe in God?

yes. your lass wants you to get married in a church.

So.......you probably thought you just had to phone up, and book it. I did.

Only to find the vicar says you must attend church for six weekd prior to the wedding, and promise to keep going after.

Why?

Becuase it makes him think that he is doing the right thing by the church. And it brings in a nice wedge.

I am right arent I?

Erm..........yes :uhoh:

I'm quite tolerant but..........

all exponents in anything remotely religious should be executed.

Other than that I'm a liberal.

I am a lapsed catholic but recently I have started to believe again. it all started on the road to accrington when a blinding flash of light hit me,I looked up and lo and hallelujah it was a humphreys special hitting the net.
And the lord said unto the people" the lads will be well up for the next 21 games or so" and " we will walk away with the upper hand"
amen

Of course you've been married in a registry office. And a church, boat, marquee, football stadium, police station, mosque, Billingsgate market, cross channel ferry and the betting shop.

That's tempting fate a bit isn't it? In both cases.
I mean, what if you were to spontaneously combust on your way down York Road to-morrow.....I suppose you'd be happy then

what is all this have to go business
no one has to go
you make up your own mind to go or not
only the people abusing the system by converting their kids to gain access
to the catholic education system then drop out of the system once that is achieved talk about having to do this or having to do that

they have a choice

There's no doubt that having God as part of your life is gnerally a good thing and christianity sets out important rules of life (ie 10 commandments) but there isn't really a God is there?

Religions are just used to control people in my opinion. I used to go to church when I was younger, you meet people etc but mass is so boring. From my experience a lot of the congragation tend to be hypocrites. They can also be quite political places as well.

The bible was also writtten in symbolic form and is obviously not meant to be taken literally but many people do, I can't get my head round the virgin birth either. There is evidence though that proves that believers are generally happier and live longer than non believers, but I suppose research/evidence can prove anything.

I don't like the term athiest either, I think most people want to believe but it just seems illogical that there may be a God....
