There is an open cabinet meeting this Monday morning 9-15 in the council chambers to approve the millhouse master plan and appoint the developer of the millhouse site.
you will not be able to question anyone at this meeting but the meeting after that we can.

After reading HTH forum over the last few days we need to up our game to deal with the negativity from that forum can we bombard the mail with letters. and e-mail all not just your own councilors about the millhouse development and ground handover/sale.

We need to really keep going on this people its not just about the ground its about keeping IOR at our club.
thanks for your time and support.

it's also about putting these people in their place - what a pack of arseholes they are over there. If they show up it's probably best that I don't, cos I would find it very hard not to respond to these muppets

WRITE or EMAIL The Mail. Do it, and do it NOW. The Mail will basically print anything (how often have we seen that over the years?) so, make them print OUR letters of support for the plan, for IOR and for HUFC.

Just DO IT.

NOW.

I tried responding to them, I even entertained reasoning with them and presented a counter argument. They closed the thread.

High Tax Hartlepool is to debating local issues what North Korea is to inclusive democratic society.

They currently have 4 people logged into the site and 27 guests, in otherwords they are a small board in a massive cliche, irrelevant.

Hartlepool is a town going places or at least I like to think it is. Starting with the Tall Ships we proved where the future of the town could lie. By attracting tourists we can make the town a better place to live. Its all well and good harking back to our industrial heritage but that's gone now. We have an amazing beach at Seaton Carew and the area is being developed as a regional sporting centre with the Nike SoccerDome to be based on the Mayfair site. The final piece in the jigsaw will be the development of the land around Victoria Park. The owners of HUFC have put their money where their mouth is with the season ticket offer. They willing to put even more money into the town with the development of the area. As long as I have been alive (and that's nearly 1/2 a century!) the area around the Millhouse has been in need of development. An independent study showed that CURRENTLY HUFC is worth £5 million to the town just think of how much it will be in the future when the development is complete. Support the proposals and move Hartlepool into the 21st Century.

here's mine I just sent via e-mail

Dear editor,

I am writing to the Mail as a taxpayer, to express my full support for the Council’s proposals for the Mill House redevelopment plans. It is an unbelievable opportunity for regeneration of the whole area, and to allow the Art College expansion to be realised by way of extra student accommodation. The transfer of ownership of Victoria Park to Hartlepool United will be a masterstroke, as the club’s owners have been amongst the very best in the country for the 15 or so years they have been here. The potential increase in revenue from these future projects will secure the employment of people at the club, and at those companies in the town who trade with the club.
The football club are the major focus of the town in terms of national publicity, and the club’s interactions with the local community play a vital role for the education and social well-being of many people in the town. A financial value cannot be placed on the overall sense of well-being and local identity which the football club brings to the town of Hartlepool.
It is a distressing thought indeed that the football club’s owners were to ever abandon the club, and leave the area and all of the plans in tatters. The club’s owners have the finances in place to realise this objective, and we must not let the very small minority of dissenting voices (who care only for themselves), to stop this.
It is therefore imperative that the councillors vote in favour of this redevelopment and grasp this opportunity, to move the club and the town forward once again.
I trust they will do the right thing.

*Name and address details not put up on here for obvious reasons!!!

Mind you if it gets printed everyone will know then, ha!ha!

Was i right in reading on that HTH board that IOR proposed the redvelopment of surrounding area etc but presented no plans? Surely this is now underway if they didnt exist in 1st place?

Here's mine

So at last there appears to be some movement on Victoria Park being handed over to Hartlepool united and IOR. This can only be beneficial for the club but more importantly the town.

Hartlepool United through IOR have been part of the community for well over a decade now. Classrooms at the Vic to help with teaching not only the young but those who have left school for training.

With the development of the whole area the town can only be better. through an independent review it has been shown that the football club generates £5million a year into the local economy and along with the club supporting local businesses with 15 out of 23 businesses that they purchase goods coming from the town this will also help those businesses carry on operating and possibly growing. A club that employs just over 300 people of which 271 live within the towns boundaries.

IOR have supported the town for well over a decade now and now is the timwe for the town to recicipocate that by handing over the ground and putting these plans into operation that will benefit the Mill House area in general but more importantly the town as a whole.

The council have no other option but to hand over the ground and lets see the town improve.

I implore every council member to support this idea and in doing so support the town of Hartlepool.

To those councillors I say you were elected to serve the town not a particular party and this plan shows IOR to be ready to support it. Are you all going to do the same.

Any news from anywhere?

I'm really surprised the club haven't mentioned this, although I haven't seen Ken's programme notes from Saturday.

From Mr S Drummond

The masterplan was unanimously approved at this morning's Cabinet meeting, as was the appointment of the preferred developer, Gus Robinson's. A decision on the transfer/sale could not be made today due to the fact that Councillor Cath Hill and myself both hold season tickets and would therefore have a conflict of interest.

That decision has had to be referred to the full Council for them to decide. There is a meeting in April but the Chief Solicitor has expressed concerns about the decision being taken during the purdah period (the lead up to an election when no political activity is supposed to happen as part of general Council business.)

It will be up to the political groups as to when they want to make the decision. If it isn't April, there will be an extraordinary meeting early in May. Personally, I don't see any reason why it can't be decided in April. Councillors who feel theycannot make a decision because there is an election looming should really think twice about being a councillor.
(liked this bit!! )
The first step of what could be an extremely exciting period of development was reached and passed with flying colours. Let's hope the next step is reached with as much positivity as the first one.

Stuart

Need to keep up the pressure just in case there are a few around who do think as Stuart has described!
