Big fan of this band.. not going to this like.... Off to The Vaccines in May and Noel Gallagher in Feb though!

I'm going Mutley, can't wait. They are a very talented band and took the festivals by storm last year and Tourist History is a brilliant debut album.

I am also intreged to see Azealia Banks and Metronomy. Should be a great night and a bargain at £20.

I'm at the O2 the night before this too for Big Country and then on the saturday I am off to Seaton Cricket / Rugby Club to see The Style Selektors and Tom Hingley the ex- lead singer of Inspiral Carpets. What a week bring it on!

The ex drummer for the carpets used to work for me as a Baker in Ashton-U-Lyme :shock:

Was that Craig Gill? I think he is still playing with them. They are doing a few gigs in March but none in North East, well the nearest is Holmfirth but it is sold out.

Here's what I thought....

THAT WAS THE BEST SHOW/GIG I'VE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF EXPERIENCING....AND TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB WEREN'T THE BEST OUT OF THE 4....EVEN THOUGH THEY EXCEEDED ALL MY EXPECTATIONS!!!! :coool:

I CHECKED THE OTHER 3 BANDS OUT ON YOUTUBE ETC AND WASN'T REALLY IMPRESSED WITH THEM....APART FROM AZEALIA BANKS WHO LOOKED FILTHY AND CUSHTY AND FILTHY....I THOUGHT THEY'D BE OK BUT THAT'S ABOUT IT!!!! confised

I'll post the Texts I sent during the course of the night....

But what I've just saw - Feck Me!!!! Not just the Music, the lights and lighting are just as much as part of them as the Music!!!! :coool:

And that was the last Text I sent....Two Door Cinema Club were excellent....but after Tribes and Metronomy my head had been blow away!!!! :shock:

I just wish I hadn't spent ages sending those Texts....I would have actually seen the show.... :laugh:

....but I just had to tell people how fecking good it was!!!! :coool:

The 02 Academy sound is....in my experience....pretty poor....but tonight it was the best I've heard....the best I've heard anywhere....and the Lighting was unbelievable....NME must have pulled out all the stops!!!! :coool:

I know I will never see a show that will top tonights....just wish I could follow this show around the country for the rest of the month!!!! confised

Oh yeah....Azealia Banks was ok....ish....for what she does....I suppose....but definetly looks filthy!!!! :razz:

(looking forward to hear what Mr.PoolieTim thought of it....I bet I've went over the top)!!!! :laugh:

Azealia Banks - Had big expectaions, really enjoyed the few songs we saw.

Tribes - The singles are awesome, but the rest of their set was too samey and lacked a bit of edge for me.

Metronomy - First saw them at Leeds Fest, love them, quality music with a great stage show behind it. Band of the night!

Two Door Cinema Club - Always amazing live, did not dissapoint tonight!

Crowd was very young tonight, but the group of us had a great time with no bother from the younguns.
As for the DJ between Metronomy and Two Door Cinema Club, unbelievable! A lot of dance anthems from before the majority of the crowd were born!

I thought that Two Door Cinema Club were absolutely superb and as with you Mr Mutley they completely exceeded all my expectations. Them boys are gonna be massive and I think next time I go to see them it will be in a bigger venue than the Academy. I saw The Vaccines in November and TDCC where a notch on from them.

Azealia Banks was good and I liked Metromony, the bass player was brilliant and I liked them lights they wore....dead cool, it's great to see artists like that which I normally wouldn't go to see, and great to see that not all young kids listen to formulaic, painting by numbers tosh.

Tribes though......they were brilliant and I really really liked them alot.......and this year for them could be similar to the one The Vaccines have just had and they could go nuclear.

Great night.......but jesus I felt old.......I had underwear on that was older than most people there....but a brilliant atmosphere.

I went to see Big Country the night before at the Academy and they where brilliant too......average age of crowd was probably mid 40's.......last nights even with me and Mr Mutley in the crowd was probably 13!!!! Live music is alive and kicking and anyone whose only experience of music is x-Factor and the benal shyte pumped out by Cowell, Walsh, Keaton and co should be made to watch shows like last night and if they still don't like it they should be given one way tickets to the moon.....not our moon but another one in a galaxy far far away

I to was also amazed at the amount of youngun's at the gig and thought it was brilliant that they like decent music....I thought they were just into X-Factor type shite aswell!!!! :grin:

We were on the Balcony....a few other Oldies up there like....must have had the same idea!!!! :coool:

Becca was over the moon that she got 7 Massive Posters of the bands aswell....took off the walls....a Bouncer went looking for a TDCC one for her and got her one....cheers fella!!!! clappp

And they DJ set before TDCC....I was telling Becca that this was 'Dance Music' when I was her age....just got a funny look!!!! :laugh:

Every Gig I go to now will be compared to last night's....can't see it been beat like!!!! :grin:

The DJ set was a brilliant a mix of The Clash, ACDC and proper dance music, made the night even better

Did you keep getting told off by the bouncers for standing up and dancing........I was up there for The Vaccines and kept getting knacked off this lass who was a member of security......she got a couple pints of beer chucked on her at the end by some pissed off lasses :shock:

I've got the kids watching TDCC on Music on demand now they love What You Know and Undercover Martyn videos

The only time we got told to sit down was when TDCC invited everyone on the Balcony to stand up....no-one took any notice of te Bouncers like!!!! :coool:

Metronomy are still pretty big. New album is a good piece of pop, even if it isn't as good as the English Riviera.
