been 3 times all to port el kantoui, kanta residence would probably suit a family with 3 kids. based just outside the marina, close to a fairground, it is part hotel and part self catering but a 5 minute walk and you are at the centre of P E K with loads of reasonably priced restaurants, if you want all inc then the abou sofiane is worth a look right on the beach a good kiddies club and a decent price.
it is a nice place but dont be put off by some of the sights you see coming from the airport

I have been twice once to The Royal Kenz in Port El Kantoui, when we went it was an adults only hotel but from May 2012 its going to be for familys as well. The other time was to The Houda Beach Club resort in Skanes, this is ideal if you have kids as there is a water slide park in the hotel complex which is free to use as often as you want to. The hotel is only 15/20 minutes from the airport. I would recommed a trip to Djem to see the Roman Amphitheatre & if you want to do an overnight trip you can go to the North tip of the Sahara Desert & have a ride on a camel on the Desert, although the highlight of the trip for us was watching the sunset over the Sahara Desert, absolutely spectacular. The hotel staff in both hotels were very friendly & went out of their way to help & in The Houda we took our daughter who at the time was 13 & the staff loved her, they couldnt do enough for her. My only concern was when we went out & about, be prepared to haggle for eveything in shops as you can get loads of money knocked off, & with having kids with you the traders target kids to their stall, I very nearly had a punch up with one of them who just took my daughters sunhat off her to put on a silly head scarf, to try to get us to buy it. But dont let that put you off, I never once felt unsafe or in danger when out & about, you just need to have your wits about you. With it being a Muslim country its unlikey you can alcohol outside your hotel, but I would recommend a trip, I would certainly go again !!

I have been but it was during Eide and so it was very quiet. Highlight was renting a cheap car and taking off for Tunis for an overnighter, but again, because of the festival it was a bit sleepy. As someone said, there's loads of good eateries around the Marina in Port El Kantoui and I enjoyed the beach riding.

Be ready for the raddled old bags dragging young handsome, Tunisian waiters around on their arms.

i went to port el kantoui with my girlfriend, it would be great for a family and the hotels are all like palaces. Also a great marina with nice bars and restaurants. The people are all very friendly aswell.
