They speculate it could be more than 15,000? Nee chance. I go for 3,400.

I work with a Darlo fan and he reckons 9000 going to be there today

If 9000 people in Darlo cared then they wouldn't be in this mess. They can blame chairmen all they want but it's still the fans who have deserted them.

The bumper attendance will no doubt give Darlo a boost but they are still in a situation were they lack players, the players are getting reduced wages at the moment. The attendance will probably be just a flash in the pan - how many will still be interested should they drop out of the BSP ..? Which could happen if they manage to complete the season....

Not only Poolies but barcodes, smoggies and even report in Echo that 24 were coming down from Hamilton. Now I don't want them to fold but if today was a so called "fans day" for them and they got just short of 6000 then there may have still been what I will call a lack of support from the people of Darlo. It's a decent pay day, expenses with regards to wages etc down but that doesn't mean a lot when the administrator will take that anyway. It's s decent crowd but there still doesn't look as if the town wants a club. I hope I'm wrong and that the fans from other clubs weren't that many.

It's one of those matches that attract the suckers and tear jerkers and given the publicity it's had it'll have no doubt raised the expectations of the Darlo Alamo element.

Added to which the away attendance at our place usually exceeds your home attendance.

Incidentally, the liquidator will sell the straws. You might get 1 straw in a hundred, even if you own them, so I hope there's at least 200 in there.

Otherwise you could be clutching at a straw.

My 2 year old son and I were two of the (Suckers & Tear Jerkers) as Snowy says above, but we went as fans as i dont want to see a fellow north east club go to the wall. We need a rivalry and its a shame that the loids are in this position and dont forget if it wasnt for Harold Hornsey RIP we would have been in the same position and previous to that John Smart. So everyone please get off your high horse. The darlo fans were absolutely great wanting our pics and thanking us for coming. I hope in a small way its helped towards us playing them in a competitive match in the near future. It was my lads first ever match but luckily he is too young remember.

Explain to me this 'fellow north east club' syndrome, is it related to 'I like to see all the north east clubs do well syndrome' popular in certain circles. I'm not being funny, but I'm genuinely baffled by this...... if taken to it's logical conclusion, the so called big three would be in the top three spots of the Premiership, the up and coming fans of the town would be heading out of town on match days, hyped up by the media and Pools would be up the junction!
They're competitors for business, not pals in some soft focus cosy glow world of mates footy, they don't give a toss about Pools, that's our job.
As for Darlington, I think the point of no return had been reached a long, long time ago, a pity, but how long has this farce been dragging out ....? You don't do a frozen chicken any favours by getting a wam glow from force feeding it corn, it's dead.

I couldn't imagine many worse Saturdays for my 2 year old son than making him sit still in a footie ground when he'd rather be playing, running around or whatever so I don't plan on taking him to Pools for another couple of years yet. confised

I say "couldn't", as after reading your post I now could imagine something worse and that would be making the poor little sod go to a darlow match.

Concurring ripper, i take my 6 year old and even thats hard word work, taking the 2 year old would be very hard.

Maybe he'd done something really naughty and mr joe maxi wanted to punish him with a trip to the echo arena.

Ah? And the home game before that?

Sorry like but its just that, well, when your son is older and uses forums like this, he will always know his first ever game was a darlo match. Its just weird innit?

For the record, my oldest lad was 4 when I frst took him. The youngest was 9 months. Yes, 9 months, and he has been to every home game since.

He was actually well behaved, loved the drum being banged and its amazing what a bar of chocolate can do and a bag of crisps. I dont take him to the home games yet as i stand, but he is a young poolie so i will take him for his 3rd birthday in september which coincides with me going to pools for 30 years. Again it was purely on a whim that i decided to go i am a fan of football, as those who know me very well (aido) will know.
