Quality H99! I often spend hours looking at you tube footage of football games from the 70's etc, very little about featuring pools. The greyhound stadium brings back memories, the dug outs LOL! wouldnt be big enough for the goalkeeping coaches these days, how offside was their goal?.

Only weeks earlier the same team were getting crucified every game , team full of kids with little confidence, yet on this clip Pools look as though they are going for promotion. Cyril Knowles tightened things up straightaway with the signings of Bennyworth and Olsson, not well known, not the greatest players but hard working and in the case of Olsson very underated at that level. Shows a change can quickly turn things around , hopefully Cooper can do the same.

TTTV have every Pools appearance on "Shoot!" from 1969-83. I've approached them numerous times over the years but the cost of the footage is shocking. Boro managed to put out a "Boro On Shoot" dvd a few years ago, which sold thousands hence they made their money back.

I remember that game as well, & the game on Boxing Day when we beat Scarborough. Some good games after Sir Cyril took over, who can forget the game when we beat Stockport 5-0 & Baker got 4 of them including that overhead kick ??

Yeah Elvis, a lot of the games on you tube featuring Chester/ Walsall / Swindon etc are from the local tv stations. Shame TTTV wont play ball with the pools footage. Mind you somethings are best left in the memory, I always remember the embarrassment of watching pools on Shoot, Kenneth Wolstenholme getting players wrong, foul language booming out across the living room in front of my mam and dad ( the camera at the ground was about a yard away from the fans in the middle of the mill house terrace, and the general poor standard of football that had seemed brilliant the day before. In them days the cameras used to add to the gate not affect it , tv crew and wagons parked outside Mill House stand a day or two before the game creating excitement amongst the towns youth. First game I remember was 1974/75 season v Workington won 3-0. The best 3-1 v Halifax 1979/80 with Newton in top form.

The start of the Cyril revolution was actually a couple of days before hand when we beat Scarboro 4-1 on boxing day if I recall correctly
His first game in charge was a loss to Maidstone, but the Scarboro games was his first home game, and teh first when some of his signings were involved (bennyworth, tupling, olsson etc..)
Could be wrong but don't think so.

Am sure Elvis would of known that. If we are going to be picky the start was actually the 4-2 defeat at Maidstone, even though we lost, most revolutions I would imagine start at a low point like this. sadx

The Keith Alexander, who scored their second goal,
was I think the ex Lincoln manager who sadly died in 2010

Maidstone played at Dartford's ground that day. A few of us clapped Sir Cyril off the bus before the game.
