The Brewer & Firkin in Whitby Street (formerly the Alma) has decided to open early before the rest of our home matches this season starting with the Lincoln City game.
They are going to put on a bit of Karaoke (if you want it), Footie music, Footie DVD’s on the big screen and possibly a few competitions and giveaways as well as LOADS OF CHEAP DRINK PRICES !!!!!

Now the place is no palace but it’s not bad either and it's a good size, some of the drinks prices they were talking about were, Trophy Bitter at £1.50 a pint, Lager the same, I think, house doubles inc mixers £1.50, alchopops 2 for £2.50, Bud 2 for £3, they’re getting Magners in time for Friday but he didn’t know the prices when he was telling me, there's other special offers too but I can't remember them all.

There’s no food on at present but they said that they would put some on for future games if the demand is there !

They also said they’d basically do anything for the fans in the future, again if the demand is there, so if there’s anything you’d like to see or do just let them or me know.

Away fans will be welcome too, so hopefully they might join in the fun and help create a good pre-match atmosphere.

Kids are welcome before Fridays game and will be welcome before and after 3pm Kick-offs but you wouldn’t really want to take your kids back down Church Street after a night match anyway would you, so not AFTER Fridays game.

Like I said there will be footie on the Big Screen this week but Sky won’t be in for a week or two yet.

So anyway if you fancy a change before the game on Friday why not give the Brewer and Firkin a try, especially if you normally go in Lloyds and stand waiting an age for a drink at the bar, the Brewer is only around the corner, cheaper than Lloyds anyway and still less than a 10min walk to the Vic !!!

Before anyone says anything, this is not another of Codyakkers ventures, I just happen to know the Manager and he knows what it USED to be like in the old Pools Bar at the Jacksons Wharf, he asked me for some ideas, asked if I thought people would come and I just said, give it a try, I’m not getting anything for it either (other than a free Corky’s Caramel shot last Saturday, strange little drink since you asked)

I think it has potential, there’s been a void since the old Pools Bar went, then the Spot closed down just as it was getting really popular pre-match, well the Spot looks like it’s gonna be re-opening soon as a footie themed bar and if the Brewer & Firkin goes well, we could soon have a choice of a couple of proper FOOTBALL PUBS again for our pre-match drinks and meeting places, but both of these places need your support, starting with this one on Friday.

The Brewer & Firkin will be open from 5pm this Friday, try it out, i'll be in from around 5.12pm !

The problem is that loads of places cater for the families before matches, there are quite a few places where families can go and get some grub.

Somewhere should put the female strippers on for all the young lads. The pubs always get packed and it gets rid of some of the more colourful language and yobs from the family orientated bars.

We used to religiously go in the Spot before and after the match, since it has shut we have tried about half a dozen places and none of them have been that great.

The Millhouse is too small for my liking, Silks is a good pub but it'll be full of the bad lads on Friday, Idols had one other person in there when we went in, LLoyds is OK but the service is fucking appalling.

I've always liked the Brewer on a night out and I'm definitely up for trying it on Friday, the only problem might be persuading others to venture down town pre-match with so many Lincoln cock-heads around. Hopefully see you in there!

The Brewer and Firkin? Last time I went there it was a Thursday night when I was 16 with a lot of people going through that gothic stage. Might pop in on Friday if we get chance.

There shouldn't be a problem with Lincolns bad'uns or ours for that matter, it seems the Police are already aware of who and where they're all likely to be, at least thats what they said, like.

Fully agree with the above , although the lads in Silks are ok really, it's just that you can't get served once it fills up, not enough bar staff !
As for Lloyds its just like King Johns Tavern for service, as you say F**** appalling !!!

I don't mean that I expect there to be trouble in the B&F on Friday, I just meant the general vicinity around the pub and the route from there to the ground!

No I knew what you meant mate, but what I mean is the Police are fully aware that there was a bit of bother down there earlier this season and by the sounds of it they'll have a fairly visible presence in the area on Friday anyway, I knew you didn't mean the B&F, like.
