Looks a very strong team and also with players playing in their natural position!

only change i would make is change sweeney with luscombe I have yet to see sweeney play well in a 4-4-2.

having said that MW knows more than me so I hope to be proven wrong.

I'd have serious reservations about playing Luscombe in the centre of midfield in a 4-4-2 against one of the strongest teams in the division.

He started brightly the other night in the diamond midfield but faded badly taking risks in areas that you shouldn't take them when we switched to a 4-4-2, Charlton will punish those lapses. I think he's an impact player at the moment and will do us a better job coming on later.

If it was me I'd go back to the 4-5-1 that served us well against top sides last season.

I don't think Adam Boyd has been given a fair go of things this season. He has only played 90 minutes in one league game. When he came on as sub in the awful performance against Wycombe he looked the most likely to create or grab a goal.

I don't think he is being subbbed every week because he is flagging or unfit either, I just don't think he is popular for some reason. Poole and Boyd are the clubs top scorers, I think it's about time they were given a chance to combine up front.

Liddle has had a bit of deserved criticism lately - and when that normally happens he raises his game so I would keep him in the centre with Paul. As for right mid I wouldn't complain if Sweeney or brow were given a try.....

The only time that formation really worked was when we had someone mobile up top like Brown or Larkin or someone who was prepared to take the hits and kicks off defenders like Humphreys did for a short period.

Do you think that Boyd or Nish will be prepared to take the hits...?

I wondered how long it would take to mention the unmentionable. Jonny didn't (but in asking for Boyd, he implied that Nish shouldn't play, but then did in the next thread (criticising Boyd and Nish).

I know, I know, I'm twisting it. But it's Friday, I'm bored and I want to see another fight. Cue Harry Hill: Fight, fight fight...

I hope to God Nish doesnt start. I cant see why Liddle should really start the game, and all this Murray praise is a bit over the top. He's a solid defensive midfielder, but God help us if we go one nil down against Charlton because those two are probably the least two attacking midfielders in the whole division.

Im not too keen on that tbh. We have already established that it is too defensive having Liddle and Murray in the same team (at home anyway). To make matters worse we will have 1 solitary immobile striker. confised

Cant see us scoring any goals with that team (unless we get a penalty).

Poole simply has to be up front, i'd like to see him alongside Nish with sweeney pushing forward to help pull the defence about a bit.

God didn't need to help us when we beat the likes of Charlton, Brighton and Peterbro last season with Murray and Liddle in the middle of midfield. They were also there during our record breaking start to the season.
Yeah, they've had a dip in form (and a few others), but on their day they can do a decent job for us.

At home I'd play the 4-4-2. With the players available tomorrow I'm hoping for:
Flinders

Austin
Hartley
Wright
Horwood

Brown
Murray
Luscombe
Monkhouse

Poole
Boyd

Collins been poor of late as has liddle. I know theirs other players not been up to scratch but they have realy stoo out for me. With Horwood and monkey on the left we have balance. We look much stronger with them two out wide. Most important thing is to play the players in the right position and not have people in just because they are mw favourites.
