Mrs Hawklord (maybe that should be Hawklady) well anyway we left home at 9 this morning - got onto the M11 in about 15 minutes to be greeted by signs telling us that the A1 was closed from junction 52 due to major roadworks between Grantham & Blyth. When we got to junction 52 we turned off towards Nottingham and then headed towards Newark only to hear on the travel news that there'd been an accident there and the A1 was closed both ways. Continued onto Doncaster & picked up the A1 again. Heard about that terrible accident and unfortunate fatalities further up. Left the A1 at Dishforth as per normal, just that everyone else had to leave it there as well as the A1 was shut from there. Queued to leave the A1 for ages. On the A19 just past M'boro there was another accident in the outside lane with more delays.
Eventually arrived in Hartlepool with just enough time to have a quick meal in Jackson's Wharf and for Hawklady to get me a birthday present (home top) from the club shop.
The journey back was much better staying on the A1 and with not much sign of any roadworks from Blyth - so I don't know what that was all about.

I should have been more specific - Blyth in Notts, althogh with all the delays it may have just as well been the more northern one.
