Ritchie's goal on Saturday should go down as an own goal as the ball was on its way out before it hit the keeper. Discuss . . .

Agree fully, I am suprised how many people have credited it to him. However, if it hadn't hit the keeper there were about 3 players waiting to pounce and it looked like Sweeney was favourite to get it...

How is that being negative? It's a legitimate question. I have seen other similar goals given as OG's, just wondered why this one wasn't.

It's a difficult one. I agree it should have goen down as an own goal, but I believe that the person who shoots should always get the goal, otherwise there wouldn't have been a goal. You know what I mean, I think? banghead

Normally the panels say that if the ball would have still gone in the net if it hadn't hit the opposition player then the goal will be credited to the player. In this instance the ball would have gone into open player.

Therefore it was an own goal and Richie should be dropped for Hereford.

Anyone who can hit the bar from FORTY YARDS with such force it bounces back in in off the keepers head deserves credit for the goal

Drop him at your peril

He deserves a lot of credit for it, but the question was whether it should go down as an own goal...which it should!

Just watched the highlights on Poolsworld, poor quality so hard to tell, but it was so fast that it could have been taken as going straight in, but as I said picture quality was very poor

Ritchie's goal all ends up for me. It never touched the deck on the way in so who knows where it would have fallen, The keeper was beaten anyway, that's why it hit him on the back of the head. OG always sound unfortunate, this was a brilliant strike and deserved a goal.

I just wish he wasn't such an upstart in the dressing room.
