Post subject: Opportunity To Learn Tai Chi In Hartlepool
PostPosted: Sat Jun 25, 2011 8:18 pm
I am looking for people who are interested in learning or practicing Tai Chi in Hartlepool
or willing to travel to Hartlepool?

We have an unmissable opportunity to set up a class at Lynfield school in the town.

I am a qualified taijiquan instructor and hold a Duan Wei grade 3 certificate awarded to me
by Liming Yue (Manchester Chen Centre) on behalf of the Chinese Wushu Association.

I have taught both Yang style and Chen style with over eight years experience in
the Teesside area at church halls, sports clubs, community centres and at university.

I hope that fans of Hartlepool United would be interested in attending some sessions.

All I am interested in at this stage is names and contact information for those that are interested,
we need at least eight people to begin teaching and to make effective use of the hall.

Contact sd_brown@ntlworld.com to reserve interest.

- Stephen Brown

I thought oriental philosophy was all about respect and courtesy. In this instance that could apply to at least asking before you advertise on the board. Some would call it spam.

you learn to stand on one foot without falling over, but it takes years of practice to perfect this

I did - but I was doing the dying fly on the floor at the time and when I stood up I was dizzy, and fell over in the corner and scattered all the tables and chairs. The barstaff weren't too happy

Than a tai chi.

I thank you Mr Irrelevant, for not deleting my post on Tai Chi. I thought that fans of football maybe interested as most would be interested in fitness.

To the point of the practice Snowy, it is first and foremost a martial art and can be used to defend one self against physical attack. It was also found that to defend oneself effectivly you also needed to be fit so fitness training was also included in with the self defence.

Until 1985 only Yang style was taught outside of China with the Emperors permission. Yang style being a corruption of the Chen style due to the fact the Emperor at the time was not fit enough to learn the moves properly and one couldn't tell him that unless one wanted ones head cut off along with the rest of ones family.

After 1985 Chen style began to peep out from behind the Emperor approved Yang style and began being taught further afield like rainy Hartlepool, hopefully!

Origami, No6bus unfortunatly is Japanise art, and although you can sustain serious injury through paper cuts its not classed as a martial art. By the way the Japanise art of Aikido which is a martial art has its origins in Tai Chi. So yes Keanu Reeves knows Tai Chi.

And it probably will help you stay on your feet after a considerably long session at a public house as it does improve ones balance as we train to move the weight from one side of the body to the other and never be double weighted. Can't be ready to kick with your weight on both feet, head butt admittedly but not kick.

Sussex07, loved the video, got one for you, but please dont accuse me of advertisment again, its just cool.

Hope to see you around

Like I said originally, what is the point....? These 'martial arts' under various titles involve dressing up, inscrutable pseudo mystical thought processes and a fee.... which is not really a point of anything. So, no thanks.
As for the connection between 'football fans' and 'fitness' .... the only fitness they want to see, is from the players on the pitch. A glimpse around the crowd would confirm that, generally speaking, this is not a place of calorie counters or eating disorders and unless there is some far eastern philosophy the respects the consumption of beer and pies, it's chances of being embraced are less than non existent. Anyone know of such a group...?
