What do people think - I was thinking of writing to the FA to ask why, when our pitch "invasion" is being investigated, a far more dangerous and alarming pitch invasion after the play off semi final at Ashton Gate wasn't. First, am I right in thinking the Bristol one wasn't investigated by the FA?

Don't get me wrong, I don't have any problem with them investigating Tuesday's pitch incursion as the stewards response was obviously lacking. But I've been irked for years by the Bristol pitch invasion and not for reasons of sour grapes. At Bristol there could have been very serious problems and the way our players were surrounded by spitting yobs wass outrageous. I asked a copper at the time why they were letting it carry on, and he said it was because it was celebratory - I tried to point out that the 300 or so "lads" weren't really celebrating more trying to cause disorder but he didn't want to know.

So, what do people think? Would I risk winding the FA up by asking this question? It just seems totally disproportionate to me to investiagte Tuesday's nonsense and ignore what happened at Bristol. I'm not suggesting that anything should be done about the Bristol invasion at this stage like.

How can that be argued with? 300 versus three. Thats why something needs doing about the Macc game, because things can get out of hand.
Cant remember if Bristol City were investigated but obviously that was far far worse

I remember the police just stood there and one policeman said the pitch was the Stewards domain and they could only intervene if asked.

What i remember about that unsavoury incident, is drinking with a group of their fans before the game, having some really good banter, and then at the final whistle, the same group of blokes were stood about twenty yards away chucking coins at us and generally encouraging us to 'come and have a go'

On the upside however, me and my mate began to pick up said coins from the terraces, and made almost enough to cover the admission fee! :sweet:

Or what about the disgraceful scenes at Felchams when they beat us in the play-offs? I still have the pound coin that hit me on the head that night we were crushed into that shitty little Subbuteo Stand. Never been closer to running on a pitch and lashing out than I was that night, I was stood on the little wall gesturing for at least ONE of them to come nearer than 35 yards away with their idle threats and coin-chucking and it was ME that got told to get down! And they wonder why people call them "Scum"..... confised

And their "we'll never play you again" chants...

Let's hope it's not too big a fine.

Another thing about the pitch invasion at Bristol that bugs me is if that had been the other way round and we'd all piled on the pitch at the Vic, would we have heard no more about it? I seriously doubt it.

Somebody was telling me that during the Rochdale vs. Stockport match, the ref gave a penna after being duped by a dive and a Rochdale fan ran onto the pitch up the referee and dived just before they were about the take the pen. It put the Stockport player off who blasted it over the bar...

Now what happened to them?

... because the 'actions' of the individuals concerned can be clearly seen as intimidating the players during the game and in consequence affect the result. Any 'actions' after the match can have no affect on the outcome of the result. Of course the degree of interference can vary widely, but as no clear defining line is apparent, a catch all ruling must apply. Suppose the keeper had been injured directly or indirectly, thus affecting the outcome of the match we'd have been in deep shit.

PS. all this crap about poor stewarding is irrelevant, the individuals concerned were not kids and should be adult enough to accept responsibility for their own behaviour, it was no ones fault but their own.

But they weren't, so as I see it- there isn't a problem

Don't write to the FA yet.
Their investigation doesn't add up to much really. They've asked Pools for explanations and they are waiting for the answers. Let Hodcroft take care of it. It's not a trial by ordeal nor is it likely to be.

I see where you're coming from, but the 'official' mind works in ways that defy logic. Mind you, like I said, it would have been much easier if they hadn't done it in the first place.
