Hey Monkey Harris, I have to ask where did you get that photograph of Tommy and Stan Hillhouse from? I remember taking that damn well close to 25 years ago!

I know that Stan passed away some years ago but what did happen to Tommy? He was a gentle man, walked all over the town he did. I think he lived in the Rossmere or Owton Manor area. I know that Stan lived in the Rossmere area.

He would often get on my bus down to the Vic (No7 Middlegate) then he would come down to the front and ask me to drop him off outside of his gate. It is often said of Stan is that "even Hitler could not get into the Vic without a ticket when he was on the main gate"...... Memories and wonderful people indeed.

The picture was actually taken from the official year book 1986, Tom Gill and Stan Hillhouse commissionaires extraordinaire!!!

I only ever had one run in with “Stan the Man”. Me and a mate of mine bunked off school one afternoon to watch Pools play a behind closed doors friendly against Sunderland.

We clambered over the wall and took up position in the Millhouse seats, not for long though , Stan had spotted us and was soon in pursuit. He chased us over every inch of that stand, he was bloody relentless, the terminator had nothing on him, finally, exhausted we gave up and returned to school.
