Got my g/son the new game and he says part way thru.he gets a message saying xml parsing and the game crashes.does anyone know what he can do to sort the problem out,any help gratefully accepted.

I am no expert, but there are a few things that might help.

There are two ways to play this game. Either installed on the pc or via a website called steam.

One of my lads uses Steam, and has no problems, unless the website is down which is rare.

The other lad uses his PC and has had a few problems with the game crashing at certain points.

Some message baords for these things tell you to go to certain files and delete temporary stuff. Sometimes these work and sometimes they dont.

I typed in the error message on google, and came up with loads of similar issues. The best one, and the one that worked, was to install the latest patch. Now I have no idea what a patch is or how it works, or what its called.

So type in latest patch for Football Manager 11, and then install it. Just follow the instructions. It worked on my sons laptop. So far, the game has not crashed again.

Happened to me a few times , if you have the FM shortcut on your desktop
Right click on the FM shortcut.
Choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu.
In the "Target" field, add the --reset_preferences command line option after "fm.exe", so it should look like this:
"C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2011\fm.exe" --reset_preferences
Press OK and then try to run the game as normal, using the shortcut.

remove the command after you run the game tho otherwise it will reset your preferences every time you launch the game

Sounds like a direct X error, update your directx (google it) should fix the problem.

Davenport is an awesome signing. I didn't spend a penny either just put all my transfer budget into my wage budget and brought in some good players on a free, i'm sitting pretty in the championship now with Mohamed Zidan and Luke Varney leading the line for pools
