i tried connecting my wireless printer and it came up with this

Your computer is unable to communicate with your printer at 192.168.1.5. This may be caused by firewall software. If you are using firewall software, verify that UDP port 427 is unblocked for both inbound and outbound traffic.

Your PC can not communicate with your printer at address 192.168.1.5. Check all cable connections. Check that the printer, PC and router are powered on and connected to the network.
I'm using windows 7 and I dont know how to fix the problem

So can someone tell me what UDP PORT 427 is, and where do I find it.

Sounds like a firewall issue.

Disable your firewall temporarily and try again. If it works then you need to add an exception.

Cheers for that. Lets assume it works if I disable the firewall. How do I then add an exception????

Go into windows firewall and add the ip as an exception. You'll recognise the exception bit, its labelled 'EXCEPTIONS'

Thanks. On the basis that I have no idea what I am doing, how, and where do I find the windows firewall?

Is this the first time that you're connecting it?

If so, you have used the wire to get them to talk to each other first haven't you?

If it's not the first time have you tried wiring them together again to "reinstall" it as that might get around the problem.

It made no difference. I still get the same message. I have connected it with a USB cable, but it I get the same message when I try to connect the wireless. It keeps telling me that same thing about the UDP port 427. Whatever that is.
