didn't really see these as a team who would do this to us... have we missed Collins that much?

Maybe, they've walked through our defence several times.

Not good enough.

I hope they put in a better performance at Watford on Saturday.

I meant today wasn't good enough.

Add to that another crap awful referee away from home and it became very difficult for us.

The referee was truly awful which didn't help our cause. The first goal was definitely down to him.

The run of form we've been on at the moment has been superb, but this is still January, there is still a lot of the season to go.

We should still be taking each game as it comes.

Nothing has been done yet.

A mate of mine who is a Notts County fan & was at the game, said the scoreline flattered them - plus it was a scrappy game. A case of them taking their chances, in the end.

We move on. It will be a tough game at Watford - but hope we can get through to the next round.

The money will be useful & I hope IOR can help MW to keep up the very good work he is doing.

it was scrappy and the score did flatter them but not entirely. 2-0 would have been about right. They took their chances well and other than a couple of half chances I'm not sure we had a clear cut chance.

Pools looked a bit lathargic to be honest, maybe the run of games has take their toll. It was one of those games when the ball seemed to fall wrong all the time.

I know I'm no fan but on that showing, honestly Humphreys has no business playing up front.

I don't doubt it, according to all reports he played a blinder, but he's 33, and his legs are probs feeling it.

No really, he pretty much lost the ball each time he touched it but to be fair there was no lack of effort. I am just questioning him playing as a lone striker against pacy defenders. He was never rapid even in his youth.

right, why don't you understand it?

After all of james brown injury problems, the 2 bad injuries, 2 of the worst any footballer can have, and the other niggling injuries, and let's say... the previous couple of months of playing him and then resting him...

Surely you understand why he started on the bench today?

My little lad can't talk yet, he's sat holding buzz lightyear and watching toy story, he's shouting WOODY WOODY at the tv, yet he can understand why brown was on the bench today.

I did worry a bit after saturdays performance that we would be a bit tired. The lads worked VERY hard on saturday and never stopped chasing/running.

Hopefully this is just a blip although I do think we could do without playing watford so soon. They are stuffing many better sides than us.

Danny Grahams in good form, they seem to have a good set up there at the moment with a lot of young kids, andrew taylor scored a quality volley for them on NYD.

Hopefully it was just one of those games. We are going to get beat, hopefully not too often, but today was one of those days. I've every confidence in Wadsworth getting them over it.

What was boyd like or was it too late by the time he came on?

He'd be like a new signing if we could get him fit and interested.

Neither him or Brown got anything resembling service so they didn't really get into the game.

Plenty of singing from the Poolies all game. A good atmosphere despite the piss poor ref. Blew for about a dozen offsides that were not.
The ball always seemed to land at their feet and they took their chances very quickly.
I thought the lads looked a bit jaded and we deffo missed Paul Murray dictating the middle. Browny an d Boydy got no service, in fact they came on too late to make much difference. County had some quick players who ran past our defence today. Alll in all it wasn't our day. I could have stomached a one nil loss an awful lot more. But onward and upward is the cry. Still over the moon to be in this position at this point. I was one of the doubters at the season start. So I'm still happy.

maybe if murray can only play one game a week then he should play the away games as we should be on the defensvie more than we should at home

If Brown is still feeling the effects of those injuries, then he should have been eased in to playing more gently.

Result today not worth dwelling on. We will find out how good we are by how we respond, wasn't at the game but by all accounts the score flattered County a bit. It was good to hear Mick Wadsworth say on Radio Tees that Collins injury doesn't seem to be as bad as first thought and he could be back in 2 weeks. Lets hope so...

Our problem this season is that while we've been much tougher against the sides in the top half of the table, we've been beaten by teams on a couple of occasions below us.

lost to Carlisle 4-0
lost to Notts County 3-0 (ref)
lost to Leyton Orient 1-0 (last min goal)
lost to Colchester 2-3 (ref)

If we are not careful it could be these kind of results which prevent us from sneaking into a promotion or play off spot.

I hope today is just another one-off.

Just got back from a seemingly endless bus journey from Nottingham. I've almost forgotten that I'd been to see a football match today!

I wasn't really that arsed about the performance. We've had a fantastic run and as a result of today have only dropped one place anyway. No doubt the game against Dag & Red will see a return to form. Here's hoping anyway.

I genuinely feel that Pools were the better team for the first half and arguably right up to the second goal. Sadly we just didn't appear to be as sharp infront of goal as we have been of late and their second goal came from a move we have been executing well ourselves of late. A quick break on the counter, neatly put away.

We did however have three good chances in the opening 10 minutes and as for the penalty appeal, I have rarely seen a more blatant handball turned down. Whether we'd have won, or indeed scored, had the penalty been given, who knows, but it sure would have been nice to find out.

Overall Notts deserved the win but 3-0 was in no way a fair reflection of the game.

Onwards and upwards.
