This will be a fun world cup then:

The laws of Qatar tolerate alcohol to a certain extent. However, the few bars and nightclubs in Qatar operate only in expensive hotels and clubs, much Distribution Company, the only importer and retailer for alcohol in Qatar. Under Qatar's Sharia, it is illegal to show alcohol or be drunk in public.

Gays aren't allowed in Qatar.

I guess Graeme Le Saux won't be a pundit then?

the atmosphere in quatar will be dead as people will either be in hospital with heatstroke or will be having their hands lopped off after trying to pinch overpriced bottles of water in one of the endless shopping malls that don't sell booze. the atmosphere in roosha will be one of terrified silence as the state sponsored criminal mafia nick all the best seats and foreign fans pay £2000 for a glass of flat champagne in one of the dodgy nightclubs, or one of complete silence as fans are late getting to venues further away than the moon via decrepit 1930s rolling stock or ex-military antonovs that need a push start

happy days and hats off to ole sepp

At least we all have a chance of playing in the World Cup, actually I think England will be installed as early favourites. Think about it the average June temperature in Qatar is 115 degrees celsius, England will be forced to pick fat knackers with kites who can afford to lose ten clem of body weight. Teams like South Korea will be left with eleven sets of empty kit on the pitch by the second half.

to quote poolie of kents favourite website, on about the world cup in that guitar country...

Fifa rules demand that World Cup matches be played under an open roof. Qatar's answer to that is to create a three metre-high bank of cool air in which players can play and spectators can watch.
The source of the air-conditioning can be found in the swathe of desert adjacent to the stadium: a "solar farm", where photovoltaic cells pour energy, year-round, into the national grid and where tubes of water are heated to 200 degrees Celsius, before their energy is alchemised into cooling vast freezer packs that sit under the stadium.

You couldnt fookin make it up.

cos it's just stupid, they would rather send the world cup to a country where every 'lovely lovely person' is going to be fooking boiling in the stands, with no football culture, no history, no nothing than too countries that actually have the infrastructure in place to host and embrace these tournaments.

Like the bid chief exec has said, it's like they are just keeping us on standby incase a tournament fucks up, it's like your punished cos you can already host a world cup.

I've been living in Qatar for the last three years and to be honest this is a complete fook up by FIFA. We watched the announcements live (in a bar) and all the people from Europe were just stunned by the announcement.

The country has one city, one airport, about 2 major roads to nowhere. It's fooking hot in summer, we had a 59c day in august!

Just take a look at the picture on the BBC web site of fans celebrating....not one woman or child there!
