What a display from Froch, won every single round & was as dominant as Calzaghe against Lacy
Great performance & we now have another world champion

Would you prefer it if they removed their gloves, pulled out clumps of hair, swung handbags and stilettoed each other?

Two thugs knocking the shit out of each other - bollocks.
World class professional boxers are the most dedicated & highly trained sportsmen you'll ever find
Carl Froch last night gave the best British sporting performance of 2010

The actual throwing the ball & hitting it with a bat isnt too bad,its the tedious hanging around in between & the inevitable "Its raining so we'll call it a draw coz thats the gentlemanly public schoolboy thing to do" thats crap along with the bit where they all stop for a cup of tea & a prawn sandwich
Lets face it,watching Chess is as exciting as watching Cricket & both are perfectly suited to ganja smoking stoners in the zone maaaan

...or a couple of near-naked thickets smacked each other around a bit while being cheered on by baying rarfs who presumably get off on the whole muscle-bound blokes in boots thing?

Depends on your view of boxing I suppose, much as your own stereotypes are influenced by your personal view of cricket. confised

clappp

I love test cricket but the point chip made is the resaon why Twenty20 cricket is so massive and the IPL and world cup will soon take over test cricket.

i dont mind watching boxing or cricket.

at least the boxing had a live audience. i put the cricket on at about half 2 in the morning and the ground was almost empty. presumably because the result at the end of 5 days was going to be that nobody won. which i guess is why test/county cricket has never been hugely popular as a spectator sport in this country. even the players/commentators seemed bored rigid.

That's the Aussies for you, they normally pack the ground on the first day and dwindle as the days go on. Given that the test was well placed for 4 out of the 5 days there has still been plenty of excitement and the whole test has been enthralling.

I personally can't stand 20/20 cricket but sadly it's the way the game is going to go. rage

Agree with Salty. 20/20 cricket is for the male equivalent of hello readers. It only last a couple of hours so therefore must be good.

Its not, its rubbish. Its so rubbish its a lottery.

i think it already has, certainly on the county circuit.

i went to one four day game at the riverside to watch durham in the summer, and i kid you not, there were less than 100 spectators in the ground, almost all of them over 40. i was probably one ofthe few in the ground with my own teeth.

the 20/20 games are almost always packed.

when i worked at npower i used to get free tickets for england test matches and apart from games vs the aussies i struggled to give them away.

i'm not saying its a good thing, simply that modern society wants things quicker and with more action. they are even making the snooker shorter and quicker.

everyone knows county cricket is dull as fook, and the 20/20 version of that certainly has taken over - compo was on about international level where test cricket surely must always prevail....??

if it doesn't then I'll cry

mind, thinking on yous do have a point, the americanisation of our culture will demand short games with an outcome other than a draw....we're basically yank wannabe idiots in this country now.
And you're right, what they are doing to snooker is disgraceful.

I agree salty, my cousins from New Yoek couldnt believe that a game is played for 5 day and ends in a draw.

I love test cricket and anyone that doesnt but only likes one-day or Twenty20 clearly doesnt understand cricket or the purity of the game.
