...newpapers from the 70's....interesting was the price of a colour telly...... £275.... Ah,so that's why people rented them then! I wonder what the equivalent price would be today ...in the thousands? confised

There's a system in place over this neck of the woods called 'One Laptop Per Child.' They've launched a lappy costing, wait for it, just over 50 quid. It's got 550m Wireless Internet, a Webcam and a 128mB harddrive.

Do you think you'll see them in England??

that's a co-incidence - me dad found some papers from the 70s down the tip just last week. It was when the town centre was first opened and there were all these 'Modern Hartlepool' supplements - quite interesting! I might scan some of them if anyone's interested.

My everlasting memory of that circular ramp was before the home match with Huddersfield in 79/80 season and all the thugs chasing each other up and down the ramp!!! And all the shops locking the doors!!!!

Farking hell, thats ironic. The one on the right was the best mate of a bloke we discussed on the murderers thread - the guy who killed Tina Trotter. It was 'alledged' that this guy helped in the disposal.

The thing that strikes me about that picture of the Fens and the Bronx is the almost complete lack of vehicles on Owton Manor. Had they all been nicked?

That picture of the Fens was pre 1976 as our ex house in the bottom left corner of Caistor Drive wasn't even built......

I can't remember our first phone no, but it had only four digits. That pic of the Headland has changed since then, they've knocked down St Hilda's hospital and Henry Smith's School!!!!

Does anyone remember the ads at the Odeon, where the bloke doing the voiceover pronounces Raby Road as "Rabbie Road"?

fookin 'ell do yous lot have to quote the picture every time!

Talking about four figure phone numbers, nah that's just a modern invention.
When my sister got her first phone installed her number was "Stranton 410"!
That was in Benson street, not some weird and wonderful out of the way place.

You are telling me you don't know where you are, even after I gave you directions to mine 5 minutes later you were lost

You might have to change your route soon though, when you turn right at the Grand Hotel (even though there is a no right turn) they are starting to monitor cars there.

You also maybe thinking of Stockton Road rather than Stockton Street, Kev might have went that way to the Woodcutter

Don't think they are Ronnies like, I went to school with his eldest and used to live down the street from him, plus he only has one son.

The one that looks most like his son is the ginger one though, could be him but he was never into football much

I stopped turning right there a bit back, I started turning right up by the Civic Centre and parking down near the old labour exchange for a quick escape. When I dropped you and Jack in 'Boro Salty I went down York Road as far as Brenda Road and then followed Stockton Road right out of town.

sorry fensy you are wrong.

you cannot turn right off victoria road into swainson street or into york road but turning right into avenue road is allowed.
